14.4 cents / kwh here in rhode island. absurd

Tier 1 where I am is 17 cents kwh GD...and I get into Tier 3 which is 40 cents...brutal.

I am looking to follow you into bunny munching Doc. (sorry folks ;0)

I appreciate your sharing.

JD

P.S. Actually our system is designed so that no normal person
could stay inside the lower Tiers...I checked and I get into 4 actually. LOL

You guys got that right! My girlfriend (soon to be fiancee, I'll be proposing in July and got the approval from her father during the family get together over the weekend :D ) is a first time home buyer so basically all we need is 5% down or something crazy low, her sisters boyfriend is a broker and said possibly zero down, so in a year we will be buying and taking out some extra to make at least the sunroom solar :) sooooo sick of the costs of electric, especially in a county that makes it impossible to grow outside. But I do love this town so our house will be here for the long haul, and solar will make me a happy camper :)

Hell yea congratulations! You could do well growing in a sunroom and still be Indoors.

Thanks bro, I'm really excited :) our anniversary is July 31st so I told her to take off the weekend and I'm planning a trip to the redwoods where our first trip to cali was, I'm nervous but I know she'll say yes :)

And hell yeah, my plan is to either build a attached greenhouse or if we find a place with a sunroom, I'll take the roof off and add green house glass with those motorized black out shades, just set them to close on a timer and build it to face the sun and have some supplement lighting when needed that's on solar, should cut way down on electric and would be so great, plus free uv and better spectrum from the sun :)

So you actually finally looked into a first time home buyers loan. Sweet! I told ya;-)
You know my brother works for the biggest solar company(electrician) in the town below us rite? He can get deals. After I finally flip this house, I'm def going solar on the next one.

just remember you dont want leased panels. There is a balloon payment buy out clause in those contracts at time of sale. It is better to purchase the panels and own the power IMO. Lots of people in our area with leased panels have a helluva hard time selling. We wouldn't even look at ones with leased panels because its such a bad deal. kick in the ass is that you can usually finance the purchase of the panels and pay less than the lease deals... Just hunt around for a good company.

I get calls every day from the solar shithead's offering "the greatest deal ever".
In the northeast you can never recover the cost of solar, wind is the way to go.
:peace:

For sure! I'd never lease, the panels are worth it to own no doubt about it
