The world is full of dangerous places, countries, cities and ghettos. I always thought about, what is the most dangerous, violent and bloody of all.
New York Bronx, L.A. Compton, Detroit, russian housing projects, brazilian favellas or african townships ?
I think i found an answer. It is a little, inner city suburb of johannesburg, called Hillbrow.
"Johannesburg, some argue, is the most dangerous city in the world.
Hillbrow, everybody agrees, is the most dangerous suburb in Johannesburg."
Some know this area, because of the ponte tower, it is famous as the most dangerous house on the planet and houses nearly 3.000 people.
Nowhere else happened that much murder, rapes, stabbings, hi jackings or suicides,
each year, than in this building, someone said.
It is only one of dozens of high rise buildings, that are housing nearly 75.000 people.
When you look at the murder, rape or assault rate ( per 100.000 people ) it looks very dangerous,
up to
200 murders
200 rapes
4.000 assaults
6.000 robberies
70 hi jackings
happen each year at hillbrow, but when you see, that all the crimes and many more happen at an area that has only 0,6 squaremiles ( 1,1 squarekilometres ) it seems like hell on earth.
Only positive news, crime, murder, assault, rape or robberie rate is decreased about 50 % or more in the past 10 years.
The worst story i´ve ever heard from hillbrow:
A white tourist was at the ponte tower, 54. floor. He just wanted to go downstairs, but at the 45. Floor a young black man asked " what do you want here ?", he said, that he heard, that you can have sex here for some dollars. The black man invited him to his flat and raped, tortured and slaved him for several days. After this never ending nightmare, he was thrown out the window.
Some say, that this white man was the devil, when he was thrown out of heaven.
