Why do HID lights have better penetration?

one way would be to title threads with the build design. First few pages would have the details and the title would make a easy search.

Maybe i'll make a 2' heatsink one for starters. I need to put some of my old heatsinks to use. Whattaya know..still perfectly good and useful...:-P

I'm coming up with $662 per lamp for 6 CXB3070 @ 1.4A - 300w X2
Which is the ideal IMO, more light less electricity.
2 for $1324 plus shipping to final destination.

V29s 4 per lamp @ 2.1 - 320w X2 would be a good bit cheaper.
2 for $1000 + shipping

Those figures don't include labor.

Shipping costs are an arm and a leg >:0

Would that CXB X6 = 300W and the Vero X4 = 320W? Or you mean the CXB X 6 would equal a 600 HPS

The Optic 360W is a great gateway to LED and compromise of value IMO it should treat you well. How do those Bridgelux compare to the Cree? The CXB has some UVB in the spectrum I thought, is this inaccurate? I was looking over their website and I didn't see any mention of it, in fact they specifically state it doesn't go into the UVB range.

Finding this site has been helpful. I will probably be ordering one of these for veg, well, multiple of these it would seem. None seem to quite cover the foot print I'm hoping to cover - although maybe they would do better with the 120 deg reflectors in place of the 90 ?

Was considering a couple of the 360w models or 200w models. Have a 4x4 tent currently but going to upgrade that to a 5x5 when I buy this. Even though it's veg, I would still prefer to see some UVB output (if that's possible).

Neither CXA/Bs nor Veros contain any UV light(10-400 nm).

Mildly disappointing for sure. Still, nice looking lamps anyway. Any COBs in the future plan to include this spectrum (UVB specifically, but I'd be ok with a little UVC too.. very little mind you)?

I don't think so. COBs are products for human lighting. UV cannot into human lighting.
CrispWhite Philips COBs have a peak of near-UV light which actually goes slightly under 400 nm.

TBH I consider these nice ~450nm peaks that all COBs have to be enough of high-energetic light.

So, there's no plant technology being worked? What are your thoughts on the new gavita plasma rigs?

That, unfortunately, I do not know. However, I think that high-CRI 3000K LED spectrum is very close to what I'd call ideal. These are usually slightly less efficient but the top bin high-CRI CXB3590s could be very well the best grow light (IMHO) when driven soft enough. Once it's available though.
You mean these plasma lights?
