Seriously @mainliner , I have been nice every time you post. I haven't shouted you down, until now. I have tried to disregard your multiple posts in every fuckng thread. I have even ignored you - but you post so much that it fucks up the flow of the board.

I hope you stop being such an idiot - or that you get banned.
Lol I have him on ignore so I thought you were sarcastically talking shit to pinworm :)

I don't think it was tv - in a sense. Think of "the old days", the really old ones. I think that early television was a pretty highbrow affair. Almost nobody showed up on tv without a dress or jacket. Jack Parr got fired for saying "water closet".

I think that they held television up to a standard and that tradition held this standard up for some time. Yeah, reality tv may be responsible for teaching the producers that they could be doing a whole lot less, but the fault is really ours. I can't escape thinking about what Warhol said about the future - everybody famous for ten minutes.
Yeah, Dick and Laura Petrie weren't allowed to be seen in bed together. I was referring to when reality TV awas accepted and some-braindead Network dude saw the connection to the news and equated the two

they all report the same shit but with a different political agenda

i like to watch FOX news just to see them spend like 6 mins talking about a viral video that everyone forgot about till...

"ANDD look at this cat go through the snow at the door, a Boston resident let her cat back in and was.... FROZEN by the results hahahahha look at that cat go!!!"

So tv was better overall when it was patronizing - but it was patronizing.

And the slack has been picked up by the cable networks insofar as original programming. There are some amazing shows being produced.

But the news is truly dying. I know a whole bunch of people who used to be in journalism. Most have been fired in he last ten years. But something tells me that a clever paparazzi with a camera drone could probably surpass their annual incomes in an afternoon.

I feel that the implications of this might be pretty large in the future.

... "movies that had stories so you cared whose ass it was and why it was farting"

Anything that would stir up Americans wouldn't get reported. i remember hearing about 300 people that froze to death in either Montana or Minnesota outside of a homeless shelter. That was the main headline and when the news came back from commercial it was never mentioned. I'm sure the fcc had something to do with it. What ever happened to the way the news reporters talked in the 30s and 40s? Now they sound like a bunch of pussies.

oh yeah no doubt the news is pure propaganda

i sometimes feel like Winston in 1984 when i watch the news

whole lot of "IS ISIS A TREAT TO AMERICA?" "more on that after commercials that take up all our air time"

in 1984 the war with Eurasia was hogwash it was just faked to put everyone in a patriotic mood yet dependent on the government to protect them

im not implying ISIS is faked

no just maybe slightly over hyped like everything is

"EBOLA INFECTED NOW IN AMERICA" was a good example

only one infected person yet all of a sudden everyone thought that there was a huge fucking epidemic guess where they got the ebola panics from???

it seems they're always trying to put us in a state of fear

fear of what exactly???

every goddamn thing

h1n1 was the goddamn flu

whole time tho you bet your ass everyone of them sheeple to get that goddamn vaccine

now i understand infants and extremely elderly folk need it cuz it WILL kill them

but it wont do much to even the biggest bingers of cigs and hamburgers

TV News has always sucked ass. Just because you're old, you're not going to get me to believe that watching the news on tv used to be good. I think it's exponentially more ridiculous now than ever, but it's always been pretty ridiculous.
