Shitty mundane 9-5 jobs can pan out to be $100k+ opportunities. It's all what you make of it.

I guess when you have others relying on you for food and shelter you'll shovel shit.
Finding a job is easy if you have the i'll shovel shit attitude you pointed out & its the proper attitude to have too .

Before i retired i was pulling down a minimum of $120k , with cost cutting bonuses , xmas bonus & vacation pay most yrs were around $200k .

Add in another $100k plus from our real estate business & another $75k from my wifes salary & we were roughly $350k a year without even counting the yrs i owned the dispensary , or what i sold both stores for .

Ive got a 6th grade formal education & my wife is an immigrant from Lebanon who earned a masters degree while working 3 jobs , plus takin care of my ass while i was in prison & we made carerrs .

American Kids just have to get off their asses & go out & look for work in person , with their pants pulled the fuk up instead of playing the online application game in between facebook & call of duty .

The last project i was in charge of hiring before i retired was Motor City casino in Detroit , we were forced to hire 50% inner city labor so we ran an ad in the paper stating applications being taken from 7am to 5pm , about noon black americans would show up to put their app in , around 2 or 3 white americans would put their app in , between 430 & 5 pm the spoiled kids wearing 7x pants would show up to put an app in , they'd allways ask how many hrs a day , what days off were & if they could park closer to the job than the tradesmen parking area cause their car stereo would get ripped off , or if they could start the following week cause they needed a few days to get ready for work , get ready for work wtf ??????

I'd get to my job trailer at 545 am to start work at 6am & there would be 20 Mexican americans there waiting on me to put their app in , 99% of them wearing work clothes & ready to start work now , lunch box in hand & cell phone in car or lunch box .

Needless to say i was a Mexican American hiring mother fuker , 99% of those dudes come in early for work & last to leave , all of them understand no cell phones on the job & never texted or used cell phones durring work , they never asked for days off either , most of em asked if they could work the weekend too for overtime .

We told all new hires what proper construction attire was , steel toe work boots , denim or heavy cloth work pants , long sleeve shirt & work gloves , about 90% of white & black americans couldnt even follow those simple directions & would show up in huge pants , sport shoes & T shirts cause it was hot out , 100% of the Mexican americans showed up dressed properly & ready to go , i'd walk down the line & point at everybody improperly dressed , gather them up all in one group & fire them on the spot , all kinds of threats to kill me & calling me names & shit cause they didnt bother to listen to instructions or read the saftey paperwork they filled out & signed .

There's a sense of entitlement in Americas youth that has many fuked for life , a food stamp card & a few dope plants growing is as far ahead as most can see , ive ran construction projects in dozens of countries on 3 continents & the young US born are the worst , even the ignorant africans that couldnt read a lick were 10 x better workers as a whole & those dudes didnt even have any shoes .

Anybody who wants to work bad enough will get a job .

American culture certainly is interesting isn't it?

Sad to say it, but that's my generation you're talking about.

Which gen is your's Senile? I'm old and have seen the entitlement types and seen the folks that see the world as a ripe fruit across all generations. The tragedy is that the fruit pickers are getting rarer and rarer, and the entitles are getting greater numbers. Life sucks, you pay taxes and ya die; but you can mitigate all that if you (not you personally) decide to exercise the brain you were gifted with instead of whine and get taken care of

how fast does time go by when you are 60? every year time goes by faster, so when you are like 60 its like living for 5 months in your 20s
Im 62 , there's no real way to gauge time once your old , it just seems you wake up one day & your 40 , a week later your 50 , you take a nap & when you wake your 60 , fuk between 60 & 62 seems like it all happened this week , you'll see one day , its a snapshot .

I'm about OP's age but my 'internet persona' is a senile fungus.

I work my ass off nearly everyday (11a-11p, not 9to5 lol) just to eat and pay for my bills and dog just to go back to work the next day. Just like everyone else.

I barely save enough for anything, and when I do something breaks.

I'm currently spending a couple of $K fixing up a place to live on my parents property and want to buy a house in 2016. My parents bought the property next door about ten years ago and I'll be living there.

I've been out of my parents house for many years, which is why I'm opting to fix up a fucked up building ( @panhead knows what I'm talking about) as opposed to moving into my old bedroom, my bro's old bedroom, or one of the spare bedrooms. I don't want to move back home, but this is the most fiscally responsible decision I can make, while still being independent.

I'd like to think I have more maturity and work ethic than others in my generation because my parents made me work for things. They are immigrants to this country and worked from the bottom up to become physicians. But just because my parents are doctors doesn't mean I was handed everything, in fact, my friends scoffed at the things my parents would make me to do build character or learn a lesson.

I worked on the farm everyday from when I was 12. I bought my first car. I didn't go out on weekends in highschool because I was working. I paid for my own schooling. I pay for my own things now.

I will say this, I have become increasingly frustrated at my situation, lack of funds, and general feelings of being stagnant. I try to use my frustration as motivation to make change. Even now, I'm trying to change shifts so that I can go back to school and make more money. More work in the short term but better for me in the long term. @sunni knows what I'm talking about

@OP no one really gives a shit about you, your life, or situation. Get it done for yourself because no one will do it for you. Meta thinking. Get shit done everyday so that every night you can think back and be satisfied with yourself.

Right now what you are feeling isn't depression, its frustration.

I'd be the most expensive shit shoveler this side of the east coast.

Fortunately someone is willing to pay this high school dropout (was in jail during senior year so had no choice), GED recipient a fat paycheck to tinker around on servers that process over a billion dollars in credit card transactions a year. No college degree. Just hard work ethic.

Most american youth feel they deserve a job. Whether it be due to entitlement, education, wealth... whatever. You don't get what you want, you earn what you want.

My father was extremely successful. Never grew up without. The "rich kid" they tried to call me, until I dropped some knowledge, fucked their girls then slicked my hair back to start my shift at CVS. There's a difference between sayers and doers. Those people who used to say that are either dead, in jail or waiting for me to accept their friend request on Facebook.

"See son, if you work hard you can have what I have. Because I'm sure as hell not going to give it to you."

Not to get off the subject or anything...

i think there was way more opportunity for this when you were growing up than there is for younger people now.

but you are right. i am trying to have the romantic idea of growing and 'not'working
Ima tell ya different , the whole weed baron deal isnt what most think its gonna be , when you do get good enough to grow over a gram per watt & multiple lbs a week its some work for your ass , itchy ass arms from getting thc all over them , sore ass back from lifting & bending in a cramped hot ass room , migrane headaches from having your mellon under HID lights for hrs at a whack , Fred Sanford fingers from 15 hour trimming marathons only to wake up the next day & be only half done trimming & you still got plants to tend to.

Then when ya get good enough for a perpetual grow you'll really be working your ass off , taking care of mothers , chopping cuttings & making clones , pulling down multiple lbs every weekend & having to trim all that shit , put last weeks clones in bud then chop this weeks clones , fill net pots or soil pots ect , all before you tend the other plants in bud .

Plant numbers im not gonna go into but for over 5 yrs i had twenty four 600 hps lights going in the bud room with 8 flood tables , im like a burnt match & hate growing now , if my wife didnt use 2 zips a week & depend on my meds i'd never grow another anything again , not even a fukin Chia Pet .

Some of the people in this thread are working 40 plus hrs a week growing & working their ass off , the big dream of tons of cash & tons of free time dont go hand in hand bro , i was hiring trusted expert trimmers at $300 a day just so i had some sort of life outside the grow:(

Not really , construction jobs are allways hiring , in one summer i went thru over 100 laborers cause the work was too hard or they couldnt manage to get to work on time , this was at $16 an hour starting pay plus insurance bennys , then after a year as a laborer they'd go to trade school & get a $1 an hour raise every 6 months for the 4 yrs they apprenticed & hit max pay when they graduated as journeymen & women , plus retirement package & an extra $8 an hour vacation pay for every hour worked & paid in one lump every july 1st , im talking $30,000 starting pay zero education required jobs & most youth wont work them , its hot dirty work & they wont do it .

Ive only been out 5 yrs now & got to watch the lack of work ethic in american youth start with the Me generation in the 80's & its been down hill since .

lmfao my dad has a construction company, i know what real is work... i had to work for him every summer making shit pay. which is exactly why i don't want to do it for the rest of my life... if i was a electrician or something that would be one thing... but i really don't want to go back to school to do that. and ya hard labor is not for me. i dont even weigh 150 lbs, im not trying to lift shit all day... although HVAC might be better for me, but i still think that would require schooling for that too

and fuck working at some cashier job
