Very brave and honest post, quite refreshing to see. You can still recognize the cognitive dissonance in your thought process, many are too far gone or too afraid to be able to take this first step. You've only wasted 5 years or so, many waste decades to a lifetime on nonsense, and the more they have invested in BS, the more difficult it is to let go. Over the last decade or so, each year I have let go of more and more pet ideas that, while comforting, were way off from objective reality. It's almost like killing a little piece of ourselves each time we drop erroneous beliefs as they are such a part of us, but what we can rebuild in its place are beliefs based on solid reality. Learn to think critically and skeptically, these filters can assure that you weed out unsubstantiated claims and specious arguments and evidence. Learning the informal logical fallacies are an excellent place to start - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fallacies#Informal_fallaciesits just that i seem to be realizing that my thoughts i have been thinking for the past 5years are becoming a struggle for my subconscious to believe.......its like a battle between fictional coincidence ......and the truth.
this is a serious thread and i feel somewhere in the back of my mind( thoughts ) that this may be true .
but im scared of the truth that for the past 5years has been ...... To be really honest ..... man to man ...... A little immature.
would it be easier for me , not only mentally but physically, to let all these untrue coincidence solid thoughts go and admit the truth to myself ?
please help me .
your subconscious will decide what's logical and try to form an understanding out of that logic, is it the container of truth, well sure intuition and logic were programed from the start, you were born with both, but you have to realize that both your intuition and your logic can be wrong. The subconscious is only as good as the knowledge your brain contains, indeed it is a powerhouse at storing and configuring information, but there are many many truths that you were not born with, that are vast beyond the power of your intuition, you have to allow your intuition to evolve and form new understandings, you have to realize that while no truth is beyond the grasp of the subconscious, your subconscious does not necessarily hold the truth, the subconscious has to learn and adapt, and you do have the power to consciously effect the subconscious by subjecting your mind to new data, educate yourself and the truth will come, it will destroy your beliefs and completely change your perspectives but you will find peace and understanding, the truth shall set you free.in realize now that my subconscious decides the meaning of many words i like to question ..... What is normality, what is fact , what is coincidence.etc etc etc and what is truth .
my subconscious will decide what's right ...not me .......im constantly fighting the truth .

There is a powerhouse of storing and configuring information that lies unconscious in the brain, it is more properly referred to as the unconscious mind, but I assumed that this is what quantumwot was referring to, the program is logic and intuition and ultimately the unconscious and subconscious both have an effect on the conscious, some would say they have dominion over the mind. What is your view on free will eye? Do you think that the conscious can effect the will, or is it completely controlled by the unconscious and subconscious?Hi,
the subconscious isn't so much a logic forming entity. It is actually incapable of logic. It stands between the conscious and unconscious aspects of mind and deals with emotion. It will send info from the unconscious (think of the unconscious as a storehouse for things your conscious mind would not assimilate) to the conscious mind. The subconscious holds recent memory, and if recent memory is not assimilated it will become a part of the unconscious mind, ready to be sent to the 'top' again should the conscious mind be faced with a situation that requires action. Another term for it is preconscious, meaning that it is just below the conscious level of mind, and communicates through emotion, visuals, (and the like) to ensure survival. Our conscious minds do the thinin', babalouie
I grew up around the sea and extensive moorland, beautiful countryside.I was messing round a little.
Some call it finding your center, seeking enlightenment.
What ever you call it, it is needed.
If no where else just use a quiet room or wear ear plugs.
It is something that is over looked with all the technology around us.
I prefer the sounds of nature. Nature has a way of helping one find home or center.
A balanced mind is one with out conflict, regret, or guilt.
If absolute silence is not achievable, use a calming sounds of nature CD.
Do this and it will come to you.
i realized it was funny AFTER i uploaded it ....... Hand on heartI like your new avatar, very funny.

I think it is the conscious that affects the will. Unconscious parts of the mind affect a person insomuch as they can direct a person to behave in certain ways that are contrary to the reality of that moment. Once a person steps back maybe they can start mapping, the tedious task of bearing witness to thoughts, and learning when and how they appear in order to understand them. I don't honestly believe in free will, every conscious thought is the effect of a previous cause, reality is seen through the screen of past experience and these unconscious perspectives completely dictate how we act and react to reality. Even those who appear to have good self control only have it because their minds have been conditioned in such a way. How could the subject, the witness, possibly affect the material universe?I think it is the conscious that affects the will. Free will? Free will is like free energy, only some people have it.
And!

That's a big can of woims, dudeI don't honestly believe in free will, every conscious thought is the effect of a previous cause, reality is seen through the screen of past experience and these unconscious perspectives completely dictate how we act and react to reality. Let me give you an example: You drive the same car to work on the same route every day, after awhile it becomes very intuitive for you, both the road and the car, all of the signs and all of the buttons, the handling of the car, even the timing and rhythm of the drive all become ingrained in the unconscious mind, eventually you can drive to work on autopilot on a subconscious level, it is in fact the unconscious that has control of the will while the conscious is free to daydream and sing along to the radio or socialize or anything, all the while paying somewhat attention to the road and receiving real world data, which in the blink of an eye can be realized as most important and can bring the conscious mind to a halt and instinctively direct your actions, the unconscious ultimately controls everything you do.
