Nope. Sorry Ty.

I still don't have my wife and kid home, nor will they come home today. Tomorrow possibly. In the meantime, he has been subjected to some awful things. All of this because the midwives told us not to come into the hospital until it was several hours too late to give my wife IV antibiotics. I consider this to be a pretty serious oversight.

But so far he's doing well, as is his mom. But his blood shows an elevated white count that suggests that he might have an infection and he is now on antibiotics.

He's a good natured little guy. Not a crier. He's nursing well and pooping a lot. I'm getting the diaper thing down. Nurses love it when you do the diapers.

We have still not given him a middle name, though we are flirting with Treefrog.

Actually, I think we are going with Trilobite for a middle name. He may hate us later but if he gets one clean shot at saying "Trilobite is my middle name", it will be worth it.

We just found out that mom is coming home today (just found out - surprise!) and baby is staying another week. If they had told me that this was possible 24 hours ago I would have rented one of those fancy breast pumps - but no, they said 48 hours minimum. It is very hard to know when to trust what they are saying at this point.

This straight out sucks. The wife and I will be shuttling to the nursery every two hours tonight. It is very cold. The nursery there is awful and uncomfortable - and full of strangers yelling "do you have the jooooooce?!" despite the many signs to remain quiet. But mostly, we just want him home.

Had a long talk with the administrator of midwives. She took it very seriously and took a lot of notes - presumably to prepare their legal defense. It might will prevent them from sending us a bill - if they have half a brain. Even money bet. Fuckers.

Well, they are concerned that the child was exposed to Strep Group B germs on account of the fact that they fucked up the antibiotics. So there is a small chance that he will contract a spectacularly fatal disease. His tests show that he is fighting something off and seems to be getting the upper hand.
