Javadog's Next Adventure

LOL! Do not confuse luck with skill! ;0)

Actually, I did earn my Myco Stripes before I came to growing seriously.

I restarted my line recently, and have blocks of Shitake, Nameko, and
Trametes versicolor consolidating and several King Oyster already popping
pins. I will post some photos.

It did teach me a measure of patience. I need more as a husband (esp!)
and father though...

I appreciate your sharing the experience.

I am probably more freaked out about the connectors (leaks) and the
power bill than anything else about hydro.

I thought I would add that the EBB plants have officially TAKEN OFF.

I was spraying them down and realized there was way more to them as compared to 2 days ago.
It actually seems like they are 30% or so bigger.

Weird thing is 1st 7 days or so after they went into the ebb they went stagnant, and actually looked sick

I have read on here and elsewhere that when they hit the res it will happen, but stems dia. and width to the indicas is coming in every day.
The sativas are shooting up.

I think I was starving them before, but now they are really green and healthy, but Pineapple and SLH are showing some stress from over-nute most likely as they are clawing.
I have one res, so I cant make em all happy at the same time, but I will rinse them down once daily with a diluted batch prior to lights out.
Look into gardening by the moon. You will find that currently we are at about Full moon... the time when above ground plant growth is most vigorous.... plants grow in cycles... Leaves, Roots, rest/heal... right before the new moon (no moon) is when the roots grow because gravity is highest pulling downward... the days preceding a full moon is when the plant grows the most above ground (leaves and stems)... pruning is best to do shortly after new moon. I avoid harvesting my plants shortly before full moon unless they are very ripe. The extra couple days near full moon could make a big difference.

I was/am really worried about leaks as well.
I look in the garage a few times a day for floods actually.

This is interesting, and Ill look into it!

That The Dog can pop a nanner is known, but thanks for the reminder.

The lights come on in a bit.

I am looking forward to finding the sex of the Blue Pit and Jake's Dream clones.

I took new clones of Smelly Cherry and will be flowering one of these
when it roots, along with Jack the Ripper, Jack's Cleaner 2, and Engineer's Dream.

I can up-pot the NYC Diesel, which is taking off with it's four tops, at any time,
but I have eleven hempys waiting for the tent now. ;0)

I am going to blast a bunch of shots in several threads.

I am too tired to make one of my mega-posts.

Here is NYC Diesel tonight:

JD you have experience growing mushrooms? Sounds like fun... i've been kind of interested in growing a few psychedelic mushrooms myself... that is if it isn't too much work or expense.... What are you thoughts? You think someone could grow a nice batch of mushrooms for lets say 100 bucks?

Well BG, if you had access to some spores or clean mycelium,
then maybe.

When one has the cycle going, then the cost of a run is the cost
of a few cups of grains and a sack of manure.

I built myself a laminar flow hood for the hobby which makes everything
much easier, and that I could not imagine doing what I do without.
(and these run $300, or more if pre-built)

Good luck,

JD

Good to know! I have pretty much unlimited supply of fresh or composted Cow manure so might as well use it!
I still have yet to start most of my research and searching for spores.

I'll have to look into Laminar Flow hoods when I do get into the hobby!

Thanks for the info JD

No worries. I am here to help.

If/when you get serious, then you might want to check out one
of the myco specific forums, as they are much more active on the
topic. I am a Mod and Trusted Cultivator at The Shroomery and
at Myco-Tek. They are both good places to start (Shroomery ==
more active and sometimes a bit rougher)

Good luck,

JD

The Sour Cherry #2 is also beginning to take off:

The Jilly Bean will be in the tent in days:

The wife is insisting on a day out and so the harvest will wait,
but Sour Kosher is getting 10 weeks and that is good.

I mainlined Green Crack for eight tops and I think that it's
setup is looking pretty much perfect.

This should flower well.

The real queens of the Veg area, if only because they both had a
relatively fragile start, are the Purple Wreck and Holy Grail Kush.

Purple Wreck:
14 Purple Wreck.jpg
This plants stems are not entirely purple....but almost. :0) And this is
where it is really pretty healthy. I have watched it get over an early over-dose,
and it has been a long road back.

This things clones root in about a month. no shit. HGK is only a hair better.

I will not flower either of these until I have confirmed clones. I write this
with several taken, and one with roots in a beer cup. But even the one
in the beer cup will be limping for a while. These do indeed like to dry out
(thanks again!).

Holy Grail Kush:

This plant snuck up on me (WTF, why is "snuck" flagging my spell checker?)
by also being stunted somewhat at first, and it ended up taking four tops to to
almost 2 feet. I suddenly noticed this tall young plant...and it stunk to high heaven!
This is the stinkiest plant that I have had in Veg, I am thinking.

I chopped it like a razor, down to a specific height, and took clones.
I has rebounded perfectly.

Laminar Flow Hoods are such badass tools. Mate of mine built a nice business making spawn after he built his, before then he had so much trouble. Far as I understand if you want to play with fungi it is pretty essential.
