Circumcision was not invented for health benefits. It was invented as part of a religion, is very painful, can and has killed children, and needs to go, IMO. But you're right, I did read some of the health benefit articles today and agree there are some minor health benefits.

Do you think the health benefits of circumcision are a compelling reason to have kids circumcised today?

that's an actual "sincerely held" religious belief practiced by a small, small percentage of the most orthodox jews on the planet.

besides the health risk it poses, there is nothing wrong with it at all.

if anything needs to be universally condemned, it is the astounding amount of misogyny and bigotry coming from the christian right. or the pedophilia that your country's religious leaders so freely engage in and cover up.

Male circumcision is an amputation of the foreskin of the penis.

Female circumcision ranges from removal of the clitoral hood to amputation of the clitoris. Circumcision of infant boys is cheered by some, female circumcision is cheered by others in the middle east and in Africa, but is illegal.

This is a clear instance of misandry, unless you amputation cheerleaders also favor female circumcision. Then it would simply be universally sadistic and superstitious.

You know I've always shown the utmost respect for the Jewish people and nation. I've defended them on every issue brought up here on RIU, except this one. And I ain't even condemning them over this one. I just think it needs to go away.

Try remembering how you felt here the next time you make blanket denigrating statements about Christians based upon the actions of some.
