Anywho. I have deduced the BD is a slow ass. I feel like I'm still seeing (kind of) a lot of clear trichs, almost no amber... maybe like literally five or six during my entire exploration (lol) today. still can't tell if it's the reflection of red hairs or... actual degradation. i also think the scope/camera has something on the lens bc i can't seem to get a clear picture.. oh well here they are for now!!

Let me know what you think about the trichs I circled, if you think it's a reflection of ?? or actual ambering.

yes, quite a bit, but not near as much as the AK's have. the BD is still pretty fuzzy towards the top. i *think* i have noticed her stop swelling and thickening on pretty much all the colas but like i said it's still pretty fuzzy. the calyxes look pretty fat too, but there are some that don't appear to have fattened up quite yet. so since i don't see any definite amber trichs, it's still fuzzy and i think it could swell a little more.. i'm agreeing w y'all about a week and a half.

you can also tell when the buds get nice n firm, the hairs recede and calyxes swell like shes pregnated...triches may never amber up lol

her fan leaves have started to... do what they do lol. starve, lighten up, get slightly brittle, look ghetto, etc. they're still hanging on good but soon....

Nothing wrong with foxtails (or whale tales for that matter), just means more bud

remember Miz, you don't actually want amber trichs. This is often a mistake alot of growers new and old tend to make simply because they do not know any better or took someone elses word and considered it proper when in fact its not. Amber trichs have nothing to do with the "couch lock" effect people often look for. This is a trait that comes with the strain.

For couch lock you want an indica or indica dominate. Amber trichomes are degraded THC, 90% degraded actually and now has no psychoactive effect as its molecular structure has now turned it from THC/CBD to CBN. Scientifically CBN has been show to cause nothing more than a sickly nausea feeling more than any actual high so ideally you don't want ANY amber.

What you want is a high ratio of Cloudy to clear trichs. Your never going to get a 100% cloudy ratio as new trichs are always forming so what you want to aim for is 70/30 or even a 70/25/5 as of course amber trichs will show often up to some degree once you've let you plant reach proper maturity. And full maturity is what you should strive for to get the most bulk and potency out of your buds. Some strains do however never show amber trichs at all.

This is an excellent naked eye visual of what a mature and ready to harvest bud should look like

i aim for 80 milky 10 amber 10 clear, tho its hard to agree with all his points. if you take the same strain and harvest at 1 at said ratios and another say at 50 milk 50 amber you will def have a couchlock effect. for some strains anyways, not all. the reverse is true, harvest at 50 milk and 50 clear youll have a nice speedy maybe even psychadelic type effect...iv been experimenting on this....

i knew all that about CBD and ambering and all that jazz.. especially the couch lock thing haha. i never quite understood why ppl thought that, but i heard ppl saying that AFTER i learned ambering meant degraded THC and higher cannabinol, so i guess that's why it never made sense.

i guess the only reason i'm looking for amber is cause i'm worried i'm gonna yank it too early, and finding amber would be like saying ok, it's definitely doing this. all the other things to spot are more like... idk they're harder to identify for me (since it's my first time) and i just feel like seeing a few ambers would light the fire under my bum to say ok... this plus this plus this must mean it's ready.

for now, i feel like only maybe one of the checkpoints i'm using (receded pistils/hairs, swelling of the bud and calyxes and amber trichs) is checking out, so i'm looking for more.... signs if you will. haha

ETA: once all three of those things i mentioned above seem to be lining up, i will a) show everyone and take a vote and b) yank it! haha

i would totally agree w the 50/50 thing... we got hella high on the testers we pulled both from the AutoAK and the BD last week... it was a weird high too

sativas are a lil trickier to judge ripeness in my opinion...when i took the ghost train haze at 50/50 it was so intense! and like you said it was different...im about to try and take it at the other 50/50 and see how sedative we can get, if itll even get to 50 amber. are your buds getting tighter n maybe denser?
