Obviously his main priority is to be confirmed and then he can do whatever he wants when confirmed, hence why his answers are that he will examine the situation carefully and will not commit either way.

He has a 22-year history in the DEA, including very high positions, so it's not a stretch to assume that he indeed has no desire to reschedule cannabis.
 
I still beleive it will happen, Too many high profile personalities are trying to get it to a class 1 versus 3. With so many states now legal the only losers are those who are losing the tax base out of their states where it is illegal. Plus no reason teh feds need to be looking for cannabis, it's everywhere. Let them concentrate on the Fentynol crisis, Heroin BS and Medicaid fraud and abuse.
