World Of Hempy

Looking NICE Rusty! Seems like this PH pen is working much better! They all have a nice green to them. Congratulations on switching to coco. Once I finish 6.5 cu ft of perlite, I'll be doing coco hempy's too. I've been mixing in the extremely coarse vermiculite into my mix to help retain water in the 2 liters.

I see you may have jumped on the June promo bandwagon too with the WOS seeds. Is that regular afghan kush or crossed with the skunk? Looks a lot like the one I just finished growing. The scrog is looking great. How is the chicken wire? Did you end up just tying them down?
Hey DANK!! The Afghan Kush is def from World of Seeds I ordered in a few months ago,, its almost 100% Pure Indica, but yea I believe its crossed with Skunk :hump:.

Oh and HATE the chicken wire. I did just twist tie everything down, then stopped after the Stretch and now just watching them do their thing. I have done some light defoliating to minimize any large fan leaves that might be covering bud sites, and Tucked most leaves back through the screen to get them out of the way.

Hey moebius and co., 1st time grower here and I was inspired to try hempy thanks in large part to this thread. I'm in an area where clones aren't the easiest to come by so I am having to start my venture from seeds. While waiting for their safe arrival I have assembled most of the required materials and just have a couple questions I was hoping some of you guys could help answer. First, if you had to start with seeds how would you go about that? I was thinking about letting the bean soak a bit then germinating in a paper towel. Once I get a nice root should I put in rock-wool cube? I'm thinking about starting in a red party cup which brings to next question. If I put in rock-wool do I just leave it in cube the whole grow or somehow extract? And when do I start adding nutes to the watering? My last question for now is about medium. Throughout this thread I have seen a few options and am just wondering what you guys would recommend for a first time farmer?
Sorry such rambling questions and thank you in advance to any help.

Hi blowcherrypie,

You have many options with regards to germination of the seed

  • Plant popped seed directly into small pot or solo cup w/ either Soil or Coco
  • Place popped seed in Rockwool cube, keep cube moist and wait for seedling to sprout.

I think your choices will depend on How you want to grow after that. ... What substrate do you want to use? What size Hempy bucket?

Judging from what your saying, after you grow out these plants you will want to do a bit of cloning. Do you want to do Aero cloning or regular Propagator cloning in Rockwool?

Lastly, How much space do you have to grow in? This will determine how large you plants can get and thus the size of the Hempy bucket required.:peace:

been experimenting with cloning...just put in a cup or bottled water with great results, i just got roots on a ghost train haze in 9 days and am still waiting for my rockwool to root. oh yea we still testing tho lol..if i keep getting roots with no effort at all, no dome, no clonex, how do i not make a switch! 001.jpg002.jpg003.jpg024.jpg025.jpg

Man, have I been around the block here....I used to do the pre-soak, the paper towels, then rapid rooters or the medium of choice in party cups.....coco was great with newly cracked seeds. When I left coco for other ventures I researched and found that "subcool" from TGA seeds had a really reliable method where he uses Rapid Rooters. He doesn't use the normal side with the hole already there...he turns it upside down so it sits well on it's own without a tray. He takes standard tweezers and uses the back end to stab a 1/2" slot in the bottom. Then he takes the seed, pointed end "down", and with gripping end of the tweezers, shoves it into the slot 1/4"-1/2" by the looks of it. He moistens the rapid rooters and puts them in a plastic shoebox with another box over the top as a dome. He puts a small CFL over it to keep things lightly warm. The sprout sees light once "up" and doesn't go leggy searching for it. I just did this method on my girls and 3 of 3 shot up...even one seed that was cracked in the breeders pack (can you believe). It's was nice germing in one step too. I used a $1.89 plastic shoebox from Walmart and just used the lid that came with it snapped in place. I sprinkled a little extra water in to keep things humid but not enough that the RR's were in contact with it. The small CFL kept things really humid inside so the RR's didn't even dry out. They were all up in 3 days. Here is a video....go to 18:50 to see him in action. He is quite a personality so the first 18minutes are him just being cool. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=-6RHdxs1_K0#at=1239

Well i finally got my plants into the hempys, i also got them fed and got them under the big light, when i opened up my veg cab today i again found that the temps had reached 100F both plants look like they have been burned a bit but it looks like they will recover, i fed the plants each 1 half gallon of water that was mixed at 1/4 tsp per gallon of gh flora series, I'm hoping that getting them out of the hot veg cab and feeding them will give them a nice boost in growth, i intend on feeding them 1 half gallon 1 time per day until they hit the res.

Psilocybin,

So youre revegging a flowered clone. .... I did that a while back, for the next few weeks growth comes out weird and they all have 3 bladed leaf.

Have you done this before?

I am thinking of doing perlite but it's sounding like you don't want to put the cracked seed directly into perlite correct? I know this is probably a very dumb question but if I sprout in rock-wool and then start in a mini hempy solo cup I can just leave it in the rock-wool cube throughout the grow correct? I picked up a handful of black 2.5 gal buckets I was planning to use and I only plan on having one or two plants flowering at a time. I have a 36x36x78 tent with 2 105w 6500k and the htg 7 band "432w" to veg and the 200w solarflare bloomblater to help with flowering. My plan is to eventually clone(I am finishing up my space) but 1st I want to know I can produce you know? I have AN sensi ph perfect but how long should I water without nutes? My seeds will arrive any day now and I just want to be as prepared as possible so I can avoid as many rookie mistakes as I can.

Jela ~ Thanks for the video! It actually started right at the perfect place for some reason. Now I'll just have to see where I can find some Rapid Rooters.. Did you do a coco hempy or just coco in the solo cup?

Correct ... Rockwool cube to Perlite is the way to go. ... once the seed goes into the cube, its left alone until you chop the plant.

re feeding a seedling. ... don't give any nutes whilst the seedling is in the cube. ... then when the cube has a strong root system (about 7-10 days maybe) place into perlite solo cup with 1/4 strength feed at most. after 2weeks you can up the dosage to 1/2 then see how you go.

(just a guide)

Others doing perlite now, please chime in ... i'm working from memory here. :?

edit:
Since you are at the planning stage; have you considered CoCo?

Hello WOH, I started my clones in 16oz. solo cups with hopes of moving them into flower at 8-10 inches. I ran into some time issues preping the flower room and the clones got to be 18'' tall plants, I kept removing side branching as I wanted single cola plants. So I was wandering if I just plant a little deeper, and bury some of the main stalk. Will it root like it would if planted in soil? I am using 100% perilite as a medium and not sure if it would stay moist enough to cause root growth. I dont want to rot the stem either, but was thinking maybe if I surrounded the stalk with vermiculite I might get it to throw roots faster.
Anyone ever do this? or if you have any ideas or thoughts please let me know. Thanks.

I have indeed considered coco but saw most hempy was with perlite and didn't want to rock the boat much. However, I was not looking forward to washing the stuff etc. I apologize if you have answered all of this 1000 times but this thread is so long I hope you can excuse me not sifting through every page. If you have switched to coco and could better advise me on a coco start that would be absolutely perfect with me.. If you guys were to start from seed with my set up, what would you do? I understand you can't hold my hand here and I'm sure I'll be able to figure most of it out but I value and respect you veterans and want to start right.

Sounds like a waste of nutes man. My hempy is almost 4 feet tall and only goes through 3-4 cups a day.
So how much would you recommend i water them? i just decided to go with a half gallon because i wanted to make sure they were well hydrated while not being able to reach the res...

Yes i am reveging 2 clones that i took the day i harvested my first grow, i believe i have a White Russian and a Blue Cheese but i failed to label them so i am growing out what i believe is the Blue Cheese to make sure it is not White Russian, i plan on cloning the White Russian 3 x, as far as the growth goes yeah it is a bit funky i had thought i read that it would be though, the plants rooted quite a while back but sure haven't grown much i believe they may be stunned from the 100 degree veg cab though, and to answer your question no i have never reveged a clone this is only my second grow so this is the first chance I've had to do it lol.

Jiffy pellets or rockwool, once you get a cloner you can go directly to your medium, cloners are also easy to make, i made one out of a lego bucket an air pump tubing and an air stone, as far as mediums go im new to hempy but i like the idea of perlite because its inert its reusable its cheap, and i don't have to figure out how to dispose of it like i did soil.

Ok if I did the coco hempy I would place the perlite up to the drain hole and then coco the rest right? Will I need to get special coco nutes or will the Sensi grow PH safe be ok to use?
