Working with Unknowns

This is a very vague question but I'm not sure how to ask. I've recently started to focus on breeding and not sure how to work with unknowns. I have many seeds that I have gotten over the years from high quality smoke. you are told it is this kind but who really knows and what was in the same room were the bud was produced. what breed pollinated it did it pollinate its self etc. I have been listing in my notes the name that I was told with a question mark. Any ideas on how others work with these you never know might have a awesome find in these seeds. Thank you

i might be lost but i don't really see a question.. well theres a lot more that goes into proper breeding than having seeds... you really need to get all your genetics in line know what males are keeper/breeder males and what females are going to be used for the breeding. you have months still ahead of you before you even know if you have a male wiorth keeping to pollinate and use the pollen... but id find as many resources as you can with plant breeding .. plant chromosomes .. etc...

Thanks phil. I've done breeding before so I understand what goes into proper breeding. I guess what I was trying to get at is that I would like to get to a point where I am able to give seeds to others and maybe get to a point where some of my crosses are worth selling. I just do not want to misrepresent what the crosses are and even be able to give credit to others. So how do I list what the cross is when the genetics of my plants are unknown or not 100 percent positive it is what I was told?

You could create a pseudonym and just say that it all came from them. Then create a sock puppet account so that you and your pseudonym can have a very public falling out. Then make a second seed company for your second name.

Double up.

Also if anyone has any problems with your seeds, you can just say they must have come from "that other guy".

oh shit I'm so sorry... well it would be a indica mix or saliva mix.. i mean i guess you can name it but you don't know the true genetics so i don't know.. i wouldn't even fuss with something i can't be sure on .. but that is me

its cool phil thanks. yeah I think ill work with more known genetics and just grow them unknown beans here and there and if it is something special go from there and come up with a crazy name lol. But I think your right about working with what is for sure.

Wanted to let you know I checked out the Kind Soil site and will be contacting you in the near future to try it out. Im from the Michigan area and was wondering if you are in any stores.

we are working with a few places.. hopefully hydro empire in jackson will be one of the first... right now i am waiting to get my OMRI certification back and done so it can be labeled OMRI organic once thats back we will be in stores but i am not willing to put it out into stores without our labeling 100%.. i don't want backlash in anyway with legal issues.

but you can always pick up locally in ann arbor or i ship.. i give fa free trial to everyone... all thats needed is a payment for shipping... generally anywhere in the states and michigan is 6-7$ it will be on the Ecommerce portion of the site this weekend. free trials are enough for a 5 gallon grow.

cool I wont be ready to try until first of august but im not far from ann arbor. so when I am ready ill just arrange a pickup

i agree with that sometimes theres that one special one that comes along..but for the time and energy that goes into the crappy ones its not worth the time sometimes.
