Working with Unknowns

I have had shitty plants surprise me and awesome growing plants get sick. I now cherish every seed. But then again this is a mental exercise and a medicinal one.The never was a business for me. But I have to agree with you a dollar doesn't seem go far sometimes. It,s good to go back to proven reliable genetics with reliable and quantifiable results that are repeatable. I always seem to have a cheesequake mother in the back.By far the easiest plant I've grown so far. The rest of the time canopy as well as the corners of the flower room are filled new stock. Searching for the right terpine profile and that one special plant to battle my specific pain and posses the medicinal qualities for which benefit me the most.

If you're looking to sell your creations at some point I think starting with known genetics is very important. True, you never really know what a seed or clone actually is unless you've made it yourself, but you can generally tell when something is not what it is advertised as.

If I were you I would work known lines for my flagship strains and play around with the mystery seeds on the side to see if I can find any keepers. After several years and various crosses you might find that your mystery seeds have produced better lines than the known strains. Fire is fire no matter what it's origins are, if you stumble across something reliable and amazing people will want it no matter where it comes from.

You could also work the unknown lines and include them as freebies in packs that you sell. People can't get mad at mystery genetics if they're free!
