Glad you are skeptical. Gives me more motivation to succeed with what I have going right now. Wonder Woman is gonna be some HUGE colas. Probably 50+ bud sights within 10"s of a main stalk.im honestly still sceptical of your side lighting which is why im really interested in your final outcome.. i still hope the best for ya for sure just hopin u can close my doubts wit your results.. much props though venturin out and doin what u think is best for u + rep if i can
All good, Probably about that time to spread some love to ya.cant rep but its in the mail bro ...
thats the benifits of keeping em short my advice nexst grow keep em short and do a bunch if your worried about plant limits i dunno if your in cali but check out / google people vs kelly plant limits unconstitutional anyway got off on tangent kiss keep it simple stupid meaning do a bunch keep em short 2-3 1/2 feet and should be no light issues other than that if you want big ass plants go outside otherwise your killing effecency all around yield light time all the above growing indoor 09 pictures by mikegreenthumb - Photobucket
Thanks a lot. You can never know enough. I would bet many of these legends around here(on RIU) would say they are continually learning new things about growing. Do your research, and execute. Scientific method is very effective.Great stuff I have read a ton of your posts and always find something I can use! Thanx wonder!
I'd put the lights and controller on different circuits, in all honesty.Anbody have any ideas on a timer/ controller that can run 8k HPS? Maybe with c02?
Damn thats some pricy equpment bob. I could justify the sentinal but not the other light deal. I found something for $200, which I think could work, what do you think?
Check both they are different products. This all calls for 240v, which makes me feel a little safer

Its a completely new room in a new location. Starting from the ground up. I will probably simplify my grow at home to 1k hps in a tent for flower and 1 flouro panel for veg/clone. The MHs will be used in the veg room of the new space. I am collecting all the equipment and starting to make purchases.Ummmmmmmmm...................I mean, it looks like it would work, I guess.
However, when it comes to electrical, you're talking the wrong guy, my friend
As an aside, have been kinda busy with setting things up for my grow and whatnot - at what point did you decide to run 8 1Ks, and how did you come to that decision?
I mean, you're running 1800W right now in your flower room, correct?
I'm as balls to the wall as anybody, and am already ordering shit for a room I'm not gonna build until sometime in the fall, but that jump seems kinda ludicrous to me, in all honesty.
Yeah, you seem to have a handle on what you're doing, and you're gonna get a nice harvest this time (knock on wood), but really? 8K?
I mean, you're not sure if you like vertical or horizontal lighting yet, you're still growing in dirt (no offense to people who do that, but that's a non-starter for an 8K op - just too much dirt to buy and dispose of).
Sorry for sounding like I'm preaching, but I'd HIGHLY recommend you giving this a little more thought before going balls in - maybe start with 2 or 3 and work your way up?
Sorry to sound like your dad, just think maybe taking a step back and really thinking this through (which you might have done, have missed the thread for a bit) would prolly be a good idea.
No matter what you decide, good luck
Timers(like any other electrical device) have watt/volt/ amp ratings. You should not exceed those rating, I actually make a point to stay a reasonable amount under the rating in case of defect or acts of ^. I may not be overloading the circuit but sure overloading the timer which could be a fire hazard.all those light timers are real cool and all but did you ever try hooking up a power strip to timer if they are all on same timing it just powers off whole strip this way you can spend 10$ on time 15$ on power strip bingo bango ready to go as long as not overloading circuit my girlfriends dad is electrical designer/engineer so if you pm any special questions i can holler at him and get back within a day or so
Just as long as you know what you're getting yourself into (which no one can possibly do until they do it, but you can have a reasonable idea). Its a completely new room in a new location. The new room will probably not be documented on RIU(depends on how comfortable I am), but I will definitely document the whole thing for posting once complete.
Very good point with the soil cost/ dispose. That hadn't crossed my mind. Definitely something to consider. Thank you for prodding my idea, because brings new ideas to life. I am not at all committed to it, but have the idea in my mind, and have started purchasing materials and equip.
I am feeling pretty good about the E & F I built but think DWC is probably the way to go for a vertical tree style grow(plant numbers are somewhat limited)
Thanks for your input Bob, You don't have to say sorry, you could have wrapped that up with a kick in the head!
I used same twisty tie type material I use to tie the plants around with. I actually tied no knots and just double wrapped each corner at 90 degrees. Guess a pic would be better but, in other words I just put the twisty tie stuff through the screen, wrapped around the aluminum screen frame, through the screen again back around the aluminum frame and then through the screen up to the next tier, and repeat. No holes drilled whatever.I like your DIY drying rack, what did you use to string them together?
More good points brought up. Im not sure what I am in for. I did forget to mention that there will only be 6k hps to start, so I only have to buy 3 more 1000w hps. I could afford to lose the whole crop if worse came to worse. No partners, I am not sure I can trust anybody enough with something like this. Security is somewhat of an issue. But how safe can you really be. Have metal exterior doors(on the inside of the space of course). Location is very quiet and out a country road. I do worry about home invasion type stuff. In a situation like this, being a gunslinger might not always turn out the best. Honestly the way I feel about this, is that over the period of time of me collecting the equipment, things will start taking shape. I am not the kind of guy who goes out and blows $4000(ball park of lighting, medium, nutrients) to get going. My first big item will be the 1000ws, cords, sockets, etc. Then I will have some time to tinker and think of whats next. Theoretically it could be running around the begining of febuary, but I am in no hurry, and am planning on taking my time and thinking things through. I'd like to have this going so I can get my outdoor run going in this room at the latest.Just as long as you know what you're getting yourself into (which no one can possibly do until they do it, but you can have a reasonable idea).
For instance, can you handle an entire crop being wiped out? Turning hermie and getting seeded up on you?
Also, I'm assuming you have some partners in this venture?
Have you thought through how trustworthy they are? Thought through how important security, etc. will be? Not even talking about cops, I'd be more worried about the guys with masks.
I mean, that's some serious weight to be pushing around, in addition to the time it would take - that's a fulltime job for a few guys, and would be (almost) impossible for just you and your wife.
Man, there's a lotta shit to think about..........I know you're thorough (like me, for the most part), but this requires some extra hard thinking about, IMHO.
