(i meant intensity not intesity- it wouldn't let me change):eyesmoke:How's it going everyone, just had question. I finished my first grow a few months back but. for security reasons am forced to run my 18hr veg cycle with cfls to keep the fan noise down during certain parts of the day. my question is can i leave my cfls timed and kick on my 400w hps when the coast is clear with out stressing my plants? Also would not having it be the same time everyday have any known negative effects? The way that i was planning on doing it was having the cfls maintain a constant 18/6 during the veg while working in the hps when possible then switching to 12/12 with the hps on at all times being supplemented with the cfls in flower. let me know what you think.

yes you will be fine because they will have a light source on for 18 hours. so at some point your hps comes on, just think of it as its daylight for awhile before the sun comes up and hits the plants, then goes over the horizon and its still daylight for awhile. you want the cfl,s to come the same time every day, and the hps whenever you can. so if you need to turn it off, its like clouds going in front of the sun for awhile. when you turn off the hps dont turn it back on for about 20 or 30 minutes so it will save the life of the light. the bulb needs to cool before restart.
just my opinion hope it makes sence.
your 12/12 sounds good straight up.
