Impossible to say. It’s really strain dependent, but if growing both from seed & the shortest time is your main factor then yes, I would give the yield advantage to the auto’s because you Would basically need to start your photo. On 1212 and there just wouldn’t be enough time for the photo. To catch up to the auto

I'm experiencing this right now as we speak... I'm on my second run of autos and my photos aren't near to being done!!!

Being able to start your next grow in the same tent you’re flowering in. Advantage autos.

I have not grown enough photos to talk about the quality difference between the two. I don’t plan on going back to autos. I’m moving on to pheno hunting and probably won’t won’t look back.

Here’s why I think it’s mostly new growers. I bought my 2x2 tent, thinking I was going to grow a one pound plant (like most newbs) and never have problems. I soon realized this wasn’t the case. But my first year I grew one big plant and would start my second plant in the corner for 2-3 weeks and then continue that for the next grows.

Pheno hunting definitely has its place, however just not for the Home Grower. Let someone who has the space do that for you and just take some cuttings. A proper pheno hunt starts @ the minimum of 50 plants IMO

I'm not talking either photo or auto but cannabis in general. I grew a BAM auto in 2013 that was crazy strong but that was the exception to the rule. every other auto ive grown has been good , but not like crazy good

Thread seems to be all over the place - autos are what they are. I grow them / cross them for my own use and sometimes trade.
There are pros and cons in ANY grow whether photo or auto. Autos I can bump sizes by swapping soil / SOILESS grows to Hempy.
12/12 photo SOG grows too ...... it really isn’t a bad thing to grow them ....

Funny part is many seem to fall flat on them , even if they are good photo growers. Sure the Ruderalis gene can throw some wonky shit at times , but it also adds certain environmental / pest advantages, not just speed. Hell if someone REALLY wanted to play with them , they could grab a ruderalis strain from Sensi and begin from there. I use strains that have been fairly consistent in grows before I ” mash “ strains together. Targeting similar terp profiles to complement. Some are bad mixes. Too many seeds on hand anyways but haven’t seen any strains out there that might be different than just a new name.

That HSO BD Auto was done to keep seed stock , not only for money saving but for working them. The Haze component I like , the blueberry can mash just about any mycrene / limonene heavy strain.

Too lazy to refresh pages on certain breeder seed drops , so I look at the cuts and try to mimic my own. Again only for my use.
Mac 1 will be solely run to replenish seed stock as I have a few on hand. Gene pool is diluted as fuck out there on strains so exploring is expected.

But to each their own ....

I personally believe that if you go with a reputable auto breeder, not ILGM or Cropking seeds, that even an extreme cannabis connoisseur would not be able to tell the difference of smoke if given in a blind taste test. Matter of fact didn’t Mephisto do exactly that at the emerald cup & people like James Bean were surprised when they were told it was an auto?...

I have to enlighten you on the fact that some autos are if not better than the photo. I know I was one of the skeptics but there are some breeders who specialize in producing the best auto genes. I say it’s the new wave and we will see a lot more in the future. They are in the 20-26% range that I’ve seen and I’m sure there’s higher

Both Rocbudinc & Mephisto have strains testing in the 30’s

If you can get to mephisto when they're open you will find the best autos on the planet... PERIOD
