Why is there so many opinions about defoliation?

Hey Brother!
Bummer you're not in the comp.
Hope things work out.
There will be plenty more comps soon I'm sure.
Look forward to chatting over in the thread with you and the others soon about doing some pollen chuckin this grow.
I'll be finished in Dawg's comp in a week or two. :weed:
Good luck in that comp ... had to deal with some “ possible “ popo issues , thus the purge.
But am busy playing “ chili gardener “ until the bullshit blows over. I am lurking both comps and have
beans ready to go ... soon. Temp setback.

Still got C99 / Malawi / HSO BD / Peyote Cookie pollen ( s ) chillin in a remote location.
Stupid ass female trying to throw a rat. Might have to buy some cinder blocks and heavy chain .
Lol ....

I did defoliant this round. I’m gonna run my next ones without taking any off. I’m just afraid of under developed lower buds.

I'd be afraid of underdeveloped upper buds if I were you ;)
I’ve grown a few grows and I always have under developed buds where the light can’t reach. My upper buds are never underdeveloped just the lowers. That’s with not defoliating. So I’m trying it this way

If you are worried about popcorn buds, then PRUNE those budsites off :). Then the plant will redirect growth towards the remaining budsites....

If you remove all the leaves it will redirect growth to make new leaves.....

Learning to prune is much less work then removing all the leaves.

Thundercat is spot on. Prune off lower branches and pinch off lower buds:

This is kali mist near 100 days. She yielded close to 8 oz.

I do a full defoliation on every plant. Every leaf, on every plant, every time. I get fantastic yields for my space, with rock hard colas. My FULL defoliation happens typically somewhere around the day 60 mark, just prior to de-stemming the rootball.
That's how I roll, all those big fan leaves were covering all the buds below top. Let them do that until the end

I've grown a lot of Kali Mist and that's no 8oz plant. I assume it's an earlier pic. Looks like mine did 4 weeks into a 14 week flower in soilless with hydro nutes. I ended up with almost 4oz once fully trimmed and dried well enough to smoke over a couple months. The one I did in a DWC ScroG got me 8oz and it hermied at 8 weeks. Had colas like beer cans on all the tops. Perfect plant for a ScroG.

Damn stuff was so intense a bit too much and I'd have an anxiety attack tho that went away after 15 min or so then I felt on top of the world. Just what I wanted for my chronic depression. Crossed it with NL#5 and the right pheno is damn near perfect. No anxiety and an ear-to-ear grin. :)

i prune lower stuff off and selectively remove some fans after the stretch but don't come close to defoliating. I tried a side by side with identical clones from the same mother 15 years back and the leafy one was almost twice the yield so never tried that again.

When I had to go away for weeks at a time to work in the bush I might defoliate severely, reduce light and feed to put the plants in low-grow mode so all the wife had to do was water while I was away. She's a hell of a veggie gardener but not into pot at all.

First of all, I have zero reason to lie on a forum full of a bunch of beginners, lol. Case-in-point: look at the topic of this thread. Defoliating? Are you fucking kidding me? lol I've been at this for nearly 20 years and have been on this forum for over 9. My kali is the best yielder in my garden. She'll also go 2x as long as everything else. You're calling bullshit on my 8oz plant? Well I'm calling bullshit on your 4oz plant. With as tall and as leggy as KM grows, it would be literally impossible to pull anything less than 5oz. That's a 6 foot tall plant above under a 600hps. Do you think 8oz from a 600hps is a good yield? I don't. I'm actually surprised she didn't give me 10oz.

I’m heading back to the politics section, you guys are just way to intense here lol. I have tried a few indoor side by’s (always hydro) and the defoliated never produced more. I’m not saying they can’t but they didn’t in my setup. What it do is if I fucked up and over vegged, or filled the room and didint prune there was more useless larf. I got to admit the urge to pull leaves is always there lol. Outdoors I’ve found it is best just to leave the leaves and that is from growing for 43 years outside. I say try it for yourself and decide what works best for your setup.

Indoor growing is not outdoor growing so needs tweaked with pruning, especially scrog.
Pruning does NOT = defoliation

I don't know any growers that have strong opinions against selective pruning. They don't all do it, but it's very different from defoliation, and most gardeners understand the benefits pruning can bring.

I don't know of any other gardeners other then indoor cannabis growers that defoliate their crops.

Pruning is an act of gardening, defoliation is an act of war.

I know that pruning is NOT defoliation lol just merely responding to a comment stating indoor is different form outdoor, and it is.

Sorry I wasn't trying act like you didn't :). My post wasn't meant to correct you at all.

It was directed at the many others in this thread and all through the cannabis community that really don't get the difference.
