Why Grow with Hydro?

Why grow hydroponically? what advantages are you getting that make it worth the extra expense and effort?
I will assume you get a typically bigger yeild over growing with dirt. How should one grow setup done with dirt compare to an identical setup that uses hydroponics in respect to yeild, plant vigour, quality of smoke and so on. Ive even heard to once you have your setup it can be less work to do hydro. Also heard you might shave a few days of your growing time with hydro(big deal)

I hope this isnt the thousandth time youve heard this question

Ive recently begun teaching a hydroponics class. Basically for yield size, grow time, ease of cloning, ease of watering. It uses much lesswater that a soil grow does. When it comes to space saving hydro can output anywhere from 6x -30x yield normally seen. It takes 33000 acres to grow 450 million tomatoes. It only takes 1200 acres of hydro. There are so many different set ups and styles that could suit any need. It can be near fully automated and can feed while away from the OP. you can mix nutes in less often but in larger amounts and have a huge reservoir that all the plants receive equal water from at the same time with the same pH. Soil offers a variable that I do not like. And that variable is in the soil. With hydro you know exactly what goes into it. Especially with 0ppm water. You have CONTROL over nearly all the big cannabis cultivation variables. Yes it costs more up front. Yes it may be scary to put together. But once it's done it's good to go with little adjustments forever. My dual tray 20 gal ebb n flow can support up to 12 girls in a sog setup in my 4x2x5. Before I could only fit two buckets of soil plants. I moved to hydro ebb n flow and my roommate is staying at soil. Until he saw my results. Now he is a hydro fiend too. If you have any questions about it you can pm me. I am working to set up a hydro rolling classroom that may be able to out put 576-2,000 rooted plants/clones/seedlings for up to five community gardens this year alone. All originated through a simple double res system that could fit in a small closet. Less bud quality comes into play when people automate the absolute shit out of their system an the begin to neglect the Keep it simple principle. Ebb n flow is nice because you can isolate a plant that isn't doing well and reposition the others into the tray better giving them more space f the sick one doesn't make it. Seriously pm me and I'll send you in the best direction I know. I fucking love hydro for cannabis and for its community applications and sustainability. It's the future of farming especially on large scale.

I have never grown before and I am doing a Ebb n Flow setup. But there is one problem, I am not sure on how big of a room I am going to need, I want to grow as many as I can without having to buy anymore lights. Even though I already have enough lights. I have already collected almost everything I need for the grow, I have a 1x1000 Watt HPS, 2x400 Watt HPS, 5x400 Watt MH and I have 48 T10 Fluorescent Bulbs. The Flourescents I am wanting to run along the walls and between the bottom of the plants since they do not get hot enough to burn them. All my HID will be set on tracks so that they can move around the room. But my question is, how many plants will I be able to support with those lights on a ebb N Flow setup?

Doing it big for your first time eh. Nice man. Personally I choose the space size before I do lighting and res gal decisions. How ya on a vent? What type of plants. Indica bushy. Sativa trees. I have basically a two by four and I start with 12 but I cut down to 8-10 depending on the genetics of the strain, which ones are doing the best and how I intend to train them. I'm a huge fan of sog n scrog. I scrog now next I'm sog ing. Do you just want all colas or do you want some busyness to the plants? on a two by two tray I'd say no more than 5 plants. 6 gets too close and touchy unless you supersog and go nuts with your training. Remember more isnt always better some times more room for less of them to grow is better. More oxygen less touching. Less chance of pests. I think you might need to ask yourself a few more questions first. To me lights are never the basis of my grow. Y medium and my room size is often the first I think about.

After trying both I've settled into doing hydro. At the end of the day I don't notice that much difference between my soil and hydro grows. What made me go with hydro was not having to dispose of all that fucking soil. I've also had soil go bad from sitting in a dirty garage for too long.

IMO it's more personal preference then any major difference in results. Whether soil or hydro a good grower will grow good weed and a crap grower will grow crap weed.

Bigger plants and faster growth but lesser quality bud for sure.
Bigv, seriously, your in the wrong section, go to the soil section. Thats bullshit, unless you have the numbers to back it up. Had weed from both methods, never ever ever found this to be true.

Ok so I am not responding to this to cause an argument so please see my point and we will move on. I figure if there is no difference what so ever and hydro is where it is at then why has every CC winner ever been grown in soil? We argue on here about the finer points of growing all the time such as hydro or soil and flush or not flush all the time. My point is if you want to be the best then you need to follow in the footsteps of the best. The best growers in the world grow in soil and flush their crop. Again not an argument. Just a discussion.

Then take that discussion to the general growing section, not the hydro section, this isn't to hard to understand, is it?
Again, WRONG SECTION...

First off, if he came here asking that question, he came here to ask the hydro growers their take on it, not a dirt farmer, so no, wrong fucking section. You make a whole thread on a troll then go around trolling, your a dirt farmer, wtf are you even doing in the hydro section? Need converts? If he wanted the soil growers take on it, guess what, he could go to that section and get it, so again, WRONG FUCKING SECTION. Stop being an ass and go back to your soil section.

This is the kind of posts we get from the mods but we are supposed to be polite and respectful? Come on Rollitup what are the common rules here? FYI I dont limit myself to a section as you suggest. My interests in growing are much more broad than a section. I would expect a moderator to be far more respectful and informative than calling names and spending thread space to argue with someone over a 1 sentance answer to a question and try to tell them that they cant try and learn in a new section. you really should be ashamed of your childish responses. I am done cluttering this thread so make your ;ast comment and go away proud.

Honestly, I don't keep up with CC winners, namely because its my understanding their...less then honest. More for publicity then anything else. With that said...

I grow my pot in shitty threads. Makes a good fertilizer. Believe it's a 14-14-14. pH is quite stable. I've had a crapload of great results but my nug always smells like desperate one upping :/. Guys both methods are tried and true. If hydro was a waste of time and money why would there be hydro? If soil was an old useless method why would we still see competitive soil growers? There are pluses and minuses to both styles. I grow in both hydro and in soil. Eventually you'll find what your preference is and stick with it. No one is right no one is wrong. Let's please keep the facts as fact and the banter to a minimum. It gets frustrating for new growers to read through. Sometimes funny, but still. If I remember correctly the original post was a "why" and a "how" not a which is better or worse. I will say outside of cannabis hydro takes the cake with sustainability. Harvest yield size. And a plethora of other reasons. Better nug is grown by better more experienced growers. Your set up is your set of variables you choose to work with. They should reflect your interests your knowledge and your past experiences with growing. I'm sure you both have an excellent deal of knowledge in your preferred fields of growing.

You should have read more carefully, perhaps? I've never said anything against soil grows, not in the least, merely the inappropriateness of coming to a hydro section to proclaim its superiority. Read first, THEN respond. ;)

Just trying to touch tips man. Build bridges bro. And turn this coversation back to where it began. Not taking hits at anyone. This is all anonymous Internet postings I just hate seeing two dudes who have made literally thousands of posts here equating to hours if not days of pure time on this forum here go back n forth about this kinda stuff. I'm not trying to disrespect anyone. Not trying to put words or anything else in other people's mouths. The enemy is the legislature and enforcers. Not each other. All I'm saying is lets try to collAborate. Not compete.
