hi streetlegal im just wondering if you could tell me the best place to keep a thermometer in a grow room? mines halfway in between the lights and fan is this ok? thanks
Near as possible to the canopy, also not a bad thing to know your soil temp

I have a quick question, more of a "holy crap, is this right?".

I am growing 3 plants this year, just for fun. I plan on doing it outdoor, but as of now I am keeping them indoor. I give them 16 hours a day of light for now, I start off in the morning at 7am with a timer and a CFL light, and then once the sun hits my balcony, I take the outdoors for the whole day, and then I toss them back under the light for the last 3-4 hours.

I am attaching a pic of the 2 older ones (one germinated late), and I would like to know, do they look normal to you after one month of growing? one is a Skunk, one is a northern light.

They seem small...like only about a foot, not even.

Please let me know!!!! :) thanks! (I might post this under a thread on its own, since I need an answer asap!).

They look good, keep up the good job

I need help ive got 4 clones coming and i have every thing in place, ie, grow tent mh and hps400w lighs, fans inlet outlet fillter all my ferts /ph up and down the whole lot and a 4 pot willma system with clay pebbles set up to drip feed /or constant flow i know i should start on half newts for about drip feed 15 mins 3 times a day when the lights are on for 2 weeks then up it to full newts.

It is here where i get lost with how offten i should feed and do i need to change from drip to constant flow during feed times as i wnnt to put them in to flower after 4 weeks in veg.

also as i dont want to kill them. can sum 1 please tell me what NPK ratio to each liter of water i should use to start of as i went by what it said on the bottle and it killed my ones i started from seed.
Sorry I don't do hydro, but someone may chime in

View attachment 962361View attachment 962362View attachment 962363View attachment 962364ok im back again,,can anyone explain whats up with my leafs, there curling right under like a claw,,it only seems to be hapening were the buds are developing,,i dont think its heat or moisture stress as theres no moistre or heat,,my temps at 26degrees and its only my leafs were the buds are growing,,could the buds be using all the energy up so the leafs arnt geting energy and thats why there curling up,,,theyve only been in flower 4 days an the leafs are doing this..thanks in advance...could this be hapening cause of overwatering,,,but if over watering was the case all the leafs would curl like a claw
saw you asked UB and saw Dave's answer,,,let's see what UB thinks???

quick question..
A friend of mine was saying the height of a cutting makes a difference when
cloning. He claims he can get roots off a 3" cutting faster than a 8-10"
cutting. Same plant, and each cutting is fairly similar.
What do you guys think of that? Is he full of it? Does it make him veg longer due
to a shorter cutting? Or is he making up time with the roots taking hold faster?
it really depends on several factors, but yes it is possible

hey there.. how do u think my babies are doing so far..? 4 weeks flowering..and how long should i let em..?
Looking good, you have for sure 4 or 5 weeks left and possibly 7 to 9 depending post pic's in week 8 and ask us again

yes im asking everywere riddle,,you said it could be heat/moistre sress but im not right hot in their and its not too moist to be honest,,ive been talking to other people and they say over watering, some say nute burn,,like i said before ive got 2plants in 25litre pots and 2 plants in 10litre pots...its the 2 plants in the 10litres what im geting this real bad claw with...the only thing ive been doing is watering 2litre in the 10litre pots and there hasnt been a run off so the plants are just using up all the feed,,i think i might try a flush with ph water an see what my run off is,,,my plants in my 25 litre pots are healthy as hell..thanks riddle

Well there are a lot that would tell you that a 400 would be just fine in that area and it would work, but I'm a CMH puppy and the way I grow that area would only be big enough for 2 plants so I would be more inclined to put a 250 watt CMH in there (which would not have no where near the heat to deal with)

Your gonna need a fan for circulation, if you are growing stealthily your gonna need to deal with the smell by installing a carbon filter (scrubber)

In the end it is truely best to do the research and decide for yourself which way you want to grow, there are so many different ways and all the equipment choices I know are a bitch to wade thru, I put in over 400 hours of reading before I decided on the CMH bulbs (and in case you don't know what that means it's Ceramic Metal Halide)

I believe I talked about them in my NooB Advice thread page 24 if you want my take on em

Congratulations. Pop in when you get some free time. Can't wait to see the new set-up. Thanks for all the help. I'll try to answer some if I'm confident I know.

The beauty of them is that you can use them for veg & flowering. There is only one CMH, but many bulbs to choose from. Lots of small bulbs in many weird sizes. Riddleme shows the 250W and 400W to use but no UV block is the important part. I'd say you can grow as big buds as you would with a 250W mh/hps set-up if not bigger. Hopefully bigger. A 250W for 2X3 seems right to me. I run a dual 150W HPS in about the same size room now, but I want to change to the CMH soon.
The heat is suppose to be less, but I'll know when I get some. I don't think you'll need a heater. You can run it at night, then use day's heat for their dark time OR run it during day if the night stays warm enough and day's aren't too hot. Need to know more about the air system you plan to help there. A air cooled hood or Cool Tube is different than a Carbon scrubber then main exhaust. Hope this helps.

Glad to hear you are so willing to help.... It is apprecaited I am sure. I have had 5 of my 5wk old flowering plants go hermie. I have some others in the same room flowering that are 3wks or so. Will the ones that went hermie cause the others to go hermie also? Please help..

One more thing.. I have a veg room very close by... Will it cause my clones to go hermie to? (They are out of the dome)

Thanks!

I'm a fan of Cool Tubes. I made a DIY one for my Medicinal fridge. I like a separate air system with a 120mm Comp, mine is 135 CFM:grin:. Helps with temp control. The main exhaust can have a carbon scrubber for odor control. Passive intake should be fine. Bulb shape for CMH is real close to HPS. I think a 250W for that space is enough. It's 41W/sq.ft. You can always add side CFL's later. Flat white walls are good. Hope that helps.
