And also, Can i keep light on for 24 hrs or should i do 18/6 hrs?

yes you can keep it a couple inches from the tube and 24 hrs is perfect for seedlings.

Ah the beauty of soil grows, everyone will tell you that soil is a great buffer and that PH is not as important with soil, like it is with hydro. But most will not tell you why,,,,,,,

I ph my water to 5.8 because in most places the PH of rain is 5.6 (I use Apple Cider Vinegar) I very rarly check the runoff (unless there is a problem) You want your soil to PH close to neutral (7). When it rains the acidic nature of the rain releases nutes that are in the soil making them available to the plant. The plant will go into hyperdrive to wick the water out of the soil via transpiration, as it does the soil begins to dry, as this happens the PH (lowered by the rain) returns to normal (original value) this is what the term buffering means. In the process of this (as the PH slowly buffers up) nutes are available to the plant in various PH ranges (there are charts all over the place that show what ph is best for various nute useage)

Understanding this is very important when you dial in the conditions of your garden, because you want the plant to be able to transpire as fast as posible without stress

hope that helps

I need help ive got 4 clones coming and i have every thing in place, ie, grow tent mh and hps400w lighs, fans inlet outlet fillter all my ferts /ph up and down the whole lot and a 4 pot willma system with clay pebbles set up to drip feed /or constant flow i know i should start on half newts for about drip feed 15 mins 3 times a day when the lights are on for 2 weeks then up it to full newts.

It is here where i get lost with how offten i should feed and do i need to change from drip to constant flow during feed times as i wnnt to put them in to flower after 4 weeks in veg.

also as i dont want to kill them. can sum 1 please tell me what NPK ratio to each liter of water i should use to start of as i went by what it said on the bottle and it killed my ones i started from seed.

quick question..
A friend of mine was saying the height of a cutting makes a difference when
cloning. He claims he can get roots off a 3" cutting faster than a 8-10"
cutting. Same plant, and each cutting is fairly similar.
What do you guys think of that? Is he full of it? Does it make him veg longer due
to a shorter cutting? Or is he making up time with the roots taking hold faster?

I have a quick question, more of a "holy crap, is this right?".

I am growing 3 plants this year, just for fun. I plan on doing it outdoor, but as of now I am keeping them indoor. I give them 16 hours a day of light for now, I start off in the morning at 7am with a timer and a CFL light, and then once the sun hits my balcony, I take the outdoors for the whole day, and then I toss them back under the light for the last 3-4 hours.

I am attaching a pic of the 2 older ones (one germinated late), and I would like to know, do they look normal to you after one month of growing? one is a Skunk, one is a northern light.

They seem small...like only about a foot, not even.

Please let me know!!!! :) thanks! (I might post this under a thread on its own, since I need an answer asap!).
