Hi, i got a plant from a friend. It was in soil then I transplanted it to my hydro- kit. I washed the roots the best I could and was gentle. I figured during the transition phase I would only feed it mild nutes; so thats what I am doing. It has only been two days but the transplant began taking water; however, it does still look a little sickly and droopy. Should I up the Nutes to a more full on veg recipe.? Should I avoid going from soil to hydro in the future.? I have limited resources where I live and was very lucky to get this plant. In the future I might need to do this again. Any guidance or advice would be greatly appreciated. ONE LOVE!

Stress and shock. Do not feed the plant more.

No, you shouldn't be ripping a plant out of a 6.5 pH organic soil and drop it in 5.8pH hydroponic solution. Of course there is going to be some drooping and stress. It will take time to recover.

I don't think it would have been tough for you to take a clone from the plant and do it right.

Just give her time. She might pull through. Expect things to continue to get worse before they get better. Stay the course, keep your environment and rez temperatures perfect, and it could pull through in time.

You're probably right about the cloning, Thanks for the advice. I have never dabbled with cloning. I am still only starting this endeavor. I just checked it out a little online and it looks really easy. I will give it a shot next time, thank you again for the quick reply. Have a great day!

Has anyone used Pro mix? I would love to be able to grow and not have to worry about PH.
On another website they said it would keep the PH exactly where it needs to be. It wasn't a
website selling it either.

Crash, its me again. im having issues keeping my ph down...and now i realized i fucked up...hopefully not too bad... i added white vinegar because its acidic and in science class in high school i remembered that to lower the ph just add something acidic....well i should have done research b4 doing so cuz ive read that vinegar kills plants and needed faune. my ph after feeding is like 8. i just replaced the water last week and rinsed the roots in room temp water. it seems as if im not sure exactly what im doing anymore...ive downloaded cervantes's grow vid, mr greens how to grow mari, and "read/ skimmed" thru a few books. im just having issues grasping the whole ph managing skill set...ive stated what nutes im using b4 but will reiterate to make it easier. AN connoisseur, AN big bud, AN bud candy, botanicare sweet berry, and snow storm at ur suggested specs. im thinking im gunna have to replace the water again but i dont want to stress the plant too much in its last 3 weeks b4 harvest. i guess what im asking is, what do i need to do to keep my ph correct & do i need to change my water asap? im sorry to keep on bothering you but you have the knowledge and expertise that i need...oh and heres my bean list i just ordered from attitudes today, what do you think?:
Barneys Farm - Pineapple Chunk Feminized x5
Barneys Farm - Tangerine Dream Feminized x 5
Sweet Seeds - Jack 47 Feminized x 3
Barneys Farm - Violator Kush Feminized x 1
G13 Labs - Pineapple Express Feminized x 1
Nirvana Seeds - Bubblelicious Feminized x 1
Green House Seeds - Super Silver Haze Feminized x 1
These last 5 seeds were free with purchase of $192.00 or more
Pyramid Seeds - Anestesia Feminized x 1
Kannabia Seeds - Kannabia Special Feminized x 1
Pyramid Seeds - Tutankhamon Feminized x 1
Pyramid Seeds - Osiris Feminized x 1
Dinafem Seeds - NYC Diesel x 1

good choices? should keep me green for awhile. i dont have room for a veg room so i cant keep clones. ill only grow 3-4 at a time.

Sphagnum Peat Moss is notorious for being too acidic.

Coco Fiber (also sometimes referred to as peat) is much more pH stable and has incredible buffering capability.

Lots of people use Pro-Mix though. Take a look around, a search engine would probably pull up several grow journals using it as a media.

You need a pH down solution.
I'm surprised you made it this far without one...

TechnaFlora uses Nitric Acid, General Hydroponics uses Phosphoric Acid. I have both. The Nitric Acid holds pH better over time but is a bit tricky to get used to. The Phosphoric Acid is less superior IMO as you'll need to use more of it to adjust with.

Vinegar is all bad. Just another one of those myths that gets perpetuated.

Lemon Juice is about the only natural pH down I'd use, but you'd need an ass load of the stuff to adjust it from 8.0.

The pH down solutions are going to be about $10 a bottle, and last for several grows. That is what you need.

The genetics you selected look fine. Nothing in there I'd get for myself other than the Violator Kush, but it's not bad stuff as far as I know.

Stability depends on the breeder. Some fem'd seeds are less stable. Most fem'd seeds are less vigorous. I am 19/19 with fem'd seeds being female from GreenHouse Seeds, Nirvana Genetics, DNA Genetics, Serious Seeds, Magus Genetics, and others.

If you get fem'd seeds I suggest getting them from a very reputable breeder than you can research. Focus this research on the methods they use to create fem'd seeds.

When will the frost melt up there? Aren't you blanketed in feet of snow at the moment?

Just run water through it till they finish. You probably have a little build up going on. As you rinse the media the run off will remove the build up over time. After 4 or 5 waterings the media should be very will rinsed and you'll be in that last week of life when you wouldn't be running nutrients anyway.

In soil, from week 6 onwards, you don't really need to feed them. You can, but you don't need to. Allow the organics to do the remainder of the feeding and just work on slowly getting it clean over the next 2-3 weeks.

The lower leaves are usually the first to go anyway. If they just go pale it isn't really a big deal at this stage. The thing to watch for is necrosis, characterized by being brown, crispy, and totally cooked on the leaves starting at the tips. If the tips are brown and crispy, that's burn, and the best approach is a rinse of the media.

Use an excessive amount of run off with the next feeding. Like 1 gallon of run off, minimum.

just ordered some Advanced Nute PH down & TechnaFlora Ph Down & Up... ive read about ph adjusters but it never sunk in that i need em...i really gotta stop smoking while doing research and learning new things. ive never been good at soaking knowledge by reading...im a hands on/show me type of guy...but as always thanx and +rep

You need to check the ph after you add all the nutrients/additives as the more salts you add the lower the ph will be BUT also some additives like voodoo, rhizotonic, molasses, and potassium silicate will raise the ph.

Once you're done mixing add the desired up or down slowly as you could create a chemical lock out (white swirly marks in your water). keep retesting till you have your desired ph.

One more thing if you add ph down and you go down too far and then add ph up and go up too far, dump your water and start over again. This messes up the water and could cause issues.

CAUTION :
These chemicals are very concentrated and potent.

Don't store them next to each other EVER!

Do Not let the two chemicals come into contact with each other!!
They are volitale when combined and will react big time.

Rinse every container you mix with before adding the opposite chemical.

Water will make an acid burn worse. A base such as baking soda will neutralize the active acid. A/N Ph acid is not going to burn you immediately but there's no reason not to be prepared.

A little goes a long way I grow in soil and use about 3 mil. to drop per gallon to adjust the ph approx. 1.0 +/-
This is for help you out... not kinda advice just a info to pour a little more from others
best of luck

avatar... i think you forgot to see your face late night...

Here is a picture.Waiting to give the last feeding.Funny thing is my other flowering plant is fine and it gets the same nutes.

Thanks for the reply! And yes I was planning on getting most seeds from GreenHouse. Usually the last frost is in May but I was planning on starting the seeds indoors then moving them out. And yeaa we have about 3 or soo feet on the ground right now but most of it has melted from the sun.

Maybe someone can help me with a question I posted on another thread but have had few responses

I am having trouble deciding where to grow.
One big room has a veg closet ready to go. all I need to do is hang black plastic.
Its 3x7x7. By the way, here is a simple way to remember W x H x L which is the way it is always written up
W= women// height= have // length = legs therefore "Women have legs".
Now you will never forget the formula as long as you live
Back to business. Arizona now has a MML. My doc told me he thought I would be a good cantidate for a card. I have three shop lights T8 four foot long for veg.
I have 10x10x10 room with a sliding glass door that faces east and gets lots of sun

I wish to combine that into my grow with whatever light I finally decide to use.
I will be growing for myself

I live in the high desert and was going to put my medicine to sleep from 5 at night and wake it up at 5 in the morning. ( I am a early to bed, early to rise man.)
I have had lots of experiance growing tomatos and such, so I have a few skills.
I cannot think of anything else, however questions and advice are welcome.

Bottom line, what are your thoughts on using the sun to supplement whatever lights I chose?

I should add that I will be growing in soil (foxfarm) and some days I would not have the shades over the slider all the way open. I may concel it some while at work, which is not very often.
But I can move the plants around so they all get some blazing sun
