he's arguing that codes for billing are diagnostic tools.
calling you a halfwit would be a compliment to you. even a quarterwit is above your mental faculties.

i am saying that the diagnostic criteria in the IDC-10 are diagnostic tools. you claim that the diagnostic criteria in the IDC-10 are not diagnostic tools.

you are a dunce, and you never answered my questions, nurse.

The vocabulary extends well beyond the two words you mentioned.

After being so demonstrably wrong, you no longer have any credibility in this discussion.

professionals in the medical and mental health fields do not talk about addiction. they talk about substance abuse and dependency.

Other than I've seen multiple MD's who are heads of treatment centers use the word.

Abuse is nonsense. Abuse can be classified as taking medication in a way other than as prescribed.

If you're going to a pain clinic and come in for a pill count the doctor will say you're abusing the medication if you're over on your pill count.

Yes, taking less than prescribed is abuse unless "as needed" is also on the rx. If it says QID and you're taking 3, you're abusing it.

Abuse and dependence cannot be stretched far enough to cover the ranges of meaning that need to be covered.

i'm gonna replace your mental retardation with the actual clinical definition and criteria.

  1. A maladaptive pattern of substance use leading to clinically significant impairment or distress, as manifested by one (or more) of the following, occurring within a 12-month period:
    1. Recurrent substance use resulting in a failure to fulfill major role obligations at work, school, or home
    2. Recurrent substance use in situations in which it is physically hazardous
    3. Recurrent substance-related legal problems
    4. Continued substance use despite having persistent or recurrent social or interpersonal problems caused by or exacerbated by the effects of the substance

Man, that describes you to a "T"

Thank you for the definitive definition of " what is wrong with Uncle Buck"

In this case, I see the "substance" as "BLUNT IGNORANCE".

Man, when you're on point, we really have no idea what you're capable of :P

Peace

OK, its getting a bit weirder with your obvious fascination about my junk.
Care to try and comment without a racial or sexual slur..............c'mon, I know your not a complete idiot ( actually you are, but I was trying to be nice)

Try to squeeze out a sentence that does not meet the above mentioned sentiments.

You can do it......................................................probably not, but at the very least you owe it to yourself to try.

Buck, your definition is all over the place.

Not very specific.

Abuse can be any sort of use. Any use of an illegal substance is considered abuse.

Taking your own prescribed medication not exactly as directed is also abuse.

Yes, abuse is a term that encompasses the meaning of addiction.

It isn't that you're wrong, it's just that you are not very accurate.
