Naw a indoor grow is very cheap . How many plants are you growing
Just one. Since it's a first grow I didn't want to do a second until I had an idea of what to expect. Glad I held off so I can have time to get legit equipment. I've got about 8-10 seeds left, it's strawberry fields and the bud it came from was amazing. I'm really hoping to get a successful grow or two out of them.

Here's a couple pics I took yesterday after I did the transfer to its final container.

is the bud from clones more potent since it comes from a mature mother plant? Also, does a clone grow at the same rate as a plant from seed? I read autos werent good for a scrog in this size tent. What do you think? Cant have two tents so a mother is out. Thats like 3 new threads in one question. Lol my bad.
Clones are exactly that, a copy of the mother, the only difference technically is seeds have a tap root which gives them a bit of an advantage. Otherwise they grow and have the same characteristics as the original mother. No thoughts on the autos, have never grown one and unlikely I would. You don't need a mother to run clones, just a small space to grow out the clones separate from the flowering plants will do. I don't keep mothers as I have 15-20 strains going at any one time. I just clone them before flipping the "mothers" to flowering. Timing works well as you typically have 8 weeks or so to root and grow them out for the next round. Many folks do this. The big advantage with clones is keeping a killer pheno instead of continually growing out seeds which can differ quite a bit in growth patterns, potency etc.

Yup they look great the soil isn't wet and leaves green so that's awesome . I would back the light up alittle so she can start to stretch unless you like tight node spacing . I like alittle stretching with my plants anyway you can buy a cheap tent 50$. And a bloomspect 600w 110$ or 300w for 55$ and gradually buy intake fan and other things as plant get bigger but a investment of 100$ will get you started or use the space you have now and buy a ufo 150w led for 30$ and that should get you going faster although vegging is different from flowering and you might get better deal on Facebook . I bought 6 x 300w lights and they was great for veg but during flower I learned that's when lighting is the most important.for instance it's going to be harder to flower with those cfl lights apose to how easy it is vegging but it's all about what you put into it. It's easy to grow weed but it's hard to grow good weed

The bigger the pot the bigger the plant but that takes veg time to fill obviously. But the reason I say a bigger pot is a 5gal pot is around 10-12" high, if you use a 7gal or bigger but roll the sides down you have the same volume of medium but less height wasted.

Im not familiar with Lowes, but for this purpose any cloth pot will do the job, although it seems there are differences in cloth pot brands. Its not necessary to get technical at this point since the purpose is mainly to lower the profile and allow you maximum head room for canopy.

Really those 2x2x4 tents were designed as cloning stations not really ideal for flowering. But folks will sell anything these days and don't care much for practicality.
thats a really good idea. buy a 7 g cloth pot and roll it. I drew it out on a post it and it looks like it would work if i scrog correctly. i was planning on topping it when its ready. Is that the correct procedure? Top a couple times?

l like the perpetual approach. I might just get the 3x3x6 tent amd keep this small one for clones. Thats a great idea.

only if the plant faces drought and adversity in nature, for more situations than not a wider bushier root system is preferable.

Naah, doesn't even take 5 minutes. the biggest pain is hammering in all the small nails.
i gotta start being more hands on. I'm just envisioning me trying to make a net with that and seeing how jacked it looks when im finished. I suck at diy.

Even clones can express differently phenotypically depending on environment and event.

Having the same genes merely allows the same potential. How those genes actually express in the real world can be very remarkable at times.

I missed watering one of my clones in veg, I had to pamper her back to life.... She just friggin exploded into a bush of small branches. And probably have more biomass than her sisters by now. For weeks she was just this small stick in the back corner of the tray, I could barely look at her.
Looking at the plant structure you would think she is completely unrelated.

Yeah I've seen variation in expression but usually environment based. That goes for seeds as well though. Differences in environment can express quite differently in both cases. For example outdoor expressions are typically much different than indoor.

my wife likes the diy approach. She would rather have me make this myself. Maybe i'll try it.
Looks like you have things coming along just nicely man. I agree with your wife on the DIY approach, because before you know it you hit your budget max and wonder wtf happened to all the money. With the majority of money going to lighting it can be a bit difficult to shell out enough money for everything else. But its nice to just whip something up together on your own, makes it more worthwhile.
