Where to Grow?

Im a beginner grower I have had one slightly successful harvest in the past and now im stuck in a cross roads of where i should go to grow. my initial approach led me to believe that my operation would be best suited in a shed my friend has and the best part is right on the floor theres nothing but dirt. that kind of flopped so now my option is to either grow outside or grow in my friends broken down van. its been sitting there for quite a while. I was thinking of setting up my small grow room in the van itself. its almost too perfect too because a hole has rusted through the cargo area of the van and would be perfect for the run off water. what do you guys think? and how should i go about setting it up. if you need pictures i can provide them.

you thinking about using soil or a hydro medium? you growing under the sun or lights? you got funds to buy gear or strapped on a skinny budget? you definitely got options but a specific answer depends on what your working with... I think the van would be a pretty cool little garden. get back with those answers and i could help out if you want...

Photo0176.jpg Im planning on using soil, under lights, and i got funds to buy some equipment. obviously i cant run out and grab the best shit but im planning on using buckets. the back of my friends big ass van is usable which i was planning on trying to put the lights at the top. The only thing is, i was wondering if i can make them more bushy than tall. obviously i would clear out the back.

Van isnt tall enough in my opinion. Whats worse than realizing 5 weeks into flower that by the time you get done your prized cola's will be burned form touching the lights (especially in buckets averaging 20" tall). You need all the height you can. using buckets makes than van even shorter.
I would toatally use the shed. You can get R-max insualtion ($12 per 4x8 sheet) or even sheetrock($5 per sheet) will help to control climate. its cheap. You can get free pallets to put the plants on (i did). I use the $2.25 - 5 gallon buckets from the grow shop, but you could use whatever (just drilll your own drain holes). i think the shed is a safer bet anyway.
how are you gonna control light leaks with the van?
I vote shed 100%

i was thinking that too but for the light leaks i was planning on separating the back from the front using some form of sheet. and then on the back of that facing the inside ill wrap it and the windows in the grow area are spray painted black and no light is allowed in or out. im thinking of doing the shed but in my situation its far more risky

gut out the van. use plastic poly to seal the whole grow space. make the hole in the van floor bigger mount a flange or fix an air filter over it and use it as your cool air intake. take a piece of plywood and cut a duct hole in it(whatever size duct you'll use) and attach a flange over the hole. install plywood behind driver/passenger seats and seal off. crack the front windows open and this is where your light exhaust flows out of the grow. cover entire area in reflective material(mylar, white poly, tin foil, whatever) mount a carbon filter and fan to the top of the van or the plywood sheet you installed and attach with duct to your air cooled light push cool air from the floor thru your filter and light and out into the driver cab and the heat will just flow out the windows away from the garden. mount a 16" oscillator on the plywood sheet/wall to provide air circulation/cell agitation. get a digi thermometer and hope your temps stay under 82f if your a straight G(whatever you do keep it under 88f!). damn i wish I could pimp out that van just for fun!! good luck

yeah that ventalation system is what i was planning on using but i didn't know how to use it specifically but thanks for the specifics ima try it out. but real quick since the tallness of the van is in question is it possible to make the plants grow fatter rather than tall such as putting the lights at a certain time on the sides rather than the top to also reduce the likelihood of burning the plants?
