You shouldn't count on 60 days as the magical day that the plant is completely done flowering. You need to use a small handheld microscope and look at the trichomes to establish the ripeness of the Buds. The 60 day thing is just a general rule of thumb, not the word of the Cannabis god.

Like I said before and thanks for getting back on topic.
We ALL know when to chop. Most should already have a 60x-100x pocket microscope. I Do !
We know what to look for when it comes to how the trichs look. But i would think that A seed company would have grown that strain for specific tastes, ripeness, ext..ext.ext. So when a seed company says 53-60 days giving you a week window. You would think they have it pretty percise taking in account things that can go wrong but lets say its a great grow. NO ISSUES. Then I should be able to start counting and go 53-60 days and chop. NO LOOKING AT TRICHS !

niot looking at trichs is just guessing then. and to the other comment that they dont start to flower till 123/12. no, they start at anything under 15 hour,. we never get true 12 outdoor but still flower. thats why its slower ouitdoor as its a gradual flowering responce with less light daily. my true 12 dark dont come till late late fall.

its an average. as is all the recipes on the nute bottles and any other grow advice. there is so many diff ways and ideas to grow no way anyone can set a dateline to the day...or even within a week or 2. our room conditions play the biggest part of the harvest and quality of bud.
and even running the same clone each grow may be a diff chop date. no way we can run our rooms 100% the same each time for temps and humidity and air flow.

impossible. we cant control the outer environment and it does affect the inside or room to, sure it can be close but never exact the same. dehu may be on a bit more or longer to control room. or ac or heaters. co2 levels cant be exact same all times of day grow after grow.
so till then we cant make a standardized smoke. we are trying to do this with a medical product were workin on so we can make it the same each time for potency. still cant get it

I'm sure it was already mentioned...but a sexually mature plant shows pistols in veg...my guess would be that the breeder is not forcing his plants to show sex, but putting them in the flower room when they are ready to flower rather than forcing the issue...I believe this is where they get the days, and yes conditions make a difference.

One of the most important things you can do when growing indoors or outdoors is keep a grow journal. All details, from the smallest to the largest are entered into your journal. When one has a journal one can use previous grow entries as references for future grows. I keep a journal and I would say it's probably my most important tool I use. I can't tell u how many times I have had a question about something and was able to reference back several weeks and find my answer. It 's very satisfying too, to have a record of your grow. The reason I am bringing this up here is cause if this grower had a journal and had grown at least one time before then he would be able to answer this question himself. peace

the fact that really matters is to be able to recognize a plant that is finished not just one aspect of finish like pistils, trichs, calender, or leaves changing
but to go by total ripeness when buds look ready like a piece of fruit when its ripe
so my theory is when finished is way more important then when start
also i think package flower time is from when you switch to 12/12

I recall a user emailing the greenhouse seed co about this and they replied that it was from switching to 12/12. I have always counted from 12/12 prior to reading about that, and i've always harvested in and around the quoted period

thanks! i would have to agree here. and yes I have kept journals. after growing for 15 years in and outdoor. I have stopped. TOO much!! its cool for you first couple grows.
