I first heard that story back in the early 70s. Who knows when it actually happened, but way back then cruise-control was not something a lot of people were familiar with. When you combine something new like that with a dumbass who probably wasn't very knowledgeable about motor vehicles anyway, you have the makings for an urban legend.THAT'S what's wrong with America. I mean, did she think she could set the cruise control on her car and go to sleep until she got to where she was going? At some point people have to be acoountable for their own stupidity.
