So I need somewhere to store RO water before it goes into my hydro system. Right now I use 44 Gallon Brute Trash Cans. It'd be cool to find something bigger, so I only need one or two.
What's the Largest DIY Reservoir You Can Think Of?

Jedi a trough wouldn't have a lid though, would it? I don't imagine it would. I need a lid for my use, since the water could be sitting waiting to be used for a week or two. Have any idea where one could locate one of those giant plastic totes?

It's not really relevant to the conversation at hand, but sure. It's a 10 spot DIY RDWC system. There are 5 27-gallon storage totes and 1 18gallon epicenter chained together. Each 27gallon tote is home for two plants. Three 18w Commercial Air Pumps power 12 Atila air disks, and a 500GPH Mag-Drive pump circulates the water through all the totes.

I have 3 of the food grade 55 gallon drums. I think I picked them up for 5 or 10 bucks each.
I also have a 60 gallon food grade drum I got for 15 bucks. Then I got tricky with the yard waste
can and have another 95 or 100 gallons in that one. Army Navy Surplus here carries the Blue water drums
but pricey at 39 bucks for a 30 gallon.
Check on CList in your area, ya might get lucky.

IBC totes are what everybody is thinking of I think. I'm in dairy land, and get mine used from the hardware store who gets them from the local farms. I get a choice of ugly brown stained ones (iodine teat dip) for $30, or clear ones that had some type of pipeline cleaning chemicals in it for $50. I go for the iodine, but I'm not storing water in them. I remember reading that some have found totes that used to have molasses or syrup in them.

At home depot they sell a 90 gallon super heavy duty trash can on wheels with a hinged lid, which I was gonna get, but then found 55 gallon food grade plastic drums at a local dairy farm, they had contained cow "teet wash" lol(the perfect valentines gift: honey, don't take this the wrong way but I got you a drum of teet wash, lol). I linked four in series to hold 200 gallons. RO filter fills them automatically via a float switch. Very handy.

Largest DIY reservoir? Well if it's DIY then i guess a bolted together hardwood frame of your desired dimension with a lot of re-enforcement on corners and sides etc, pond liner, valves etc. Or do you mean DIY like converting a water container to being a water container with a valve on the bottom?

I'm gonna vote for a blue 55 gallon food grade barrel off your local ads or craigs list, should never be over $20. Can't go wrong really, and bonus if they've pre-cleaned it. =)
