Man,you cant beat HTG Supply when it come to T-5's..check out this very nice T-5 system...High Tech Garden SupplyIt has 2 bulbs, each 55 watts...each bulb is 5,000 lumens,so thats 10,000 watts of pure vegging power!!!This is the only site Ive seen with these high powered 55WATT bulbs..usually it's the shitty 24WATT blubs, which only give 2000 lumens...plus it's only like 85$ and that includes shipping!!!

So the results are the same for you, Or Better with the t5?
For me about the same from MH to T5. Maybe better results if you consider the consistent light spread. Mind you i keep my veg plants under 18" to 26" height . I am sure anything higher than that and the MH would be the hands down winner simply due to light penetration.

I do not think t5's are worth the hype or money. Many people say they are alot cooler as the major advantage but mine get pretty damn hot....

I agree,T-5's are alot of hypre, but consider the fact that most people already use some form of Fluro lighting to veg their mothers and clones....albeit CFL's or normal shop light fixtures...T-5's have a very high lumen to watt ratio, mine has 10,000WATTS!!!And that's from 2 lamps..fitting a bunch of those shitty CFL's in the same place will be alot of hassle, this light come ready built and you just have to plug it in...Remember kids:HTG SUpply is the best place to get al you horticulture needs!!!We carry tons of cool lighting assortments, soil amendments, hydropoinic systems and top-of-the line nutrients!!

I'm really new to this fun hobby but I started six plants under 4 ft of t-5s and they love it so far. in one month they are about 1ft and very full. I plan on budding with a 400 watt hps. I don't think t-5s would be good for that but to veg they are awsome and very cool.

This is the first time I've heard of T5 and what you just posted really does sound pretty awesome.

So are these T5's the real deal? I was under the impression regular ol' fluorescents would do the job nicely for the vegetative stage but do these T5's really blow the fluors out of the water?

Does anyone have any concrete information regarding T5 vs. HPS for the flowering stage?

There is NO competition when it come to HPS vs Fluro for flowering...but when it comes to vegging, you cant beat a nice T-5 system...all those lumens for only a compact 2-bulb setup..plus it runs very cool..and it has an ultra-blue light spectrum for tight vegging...you need atleast ten CFL's to even come close to this, then you have to wire them and adjust the plants so theyr VERY close to them..this is a huge hassle, and CFL's suck compared to a nice t-5..

but what about these led lights , has anyone done a real compare to cfls and hps , i would like to see this , then your electric would be cut in half or more depending on your set up..

There is NO competition for flowering under HPS and flowering under Fluro! The HPS has waayy more lumen output, and light penetration compared to Fluro's...Also LED's are new technology, meaning it's not stable yet..alot of people say that it has VERY little light penetration, even compared to fluros..the only good thing about LED is that it gives out the correct light spectrum, and the plants use more of it compared to HID'S..fluros...you get me??Alot of light is wasted by plants under HID's and fluros..but not LED's..if you still interested, heres a very affordable LED system..Im telling you HTG Supply fukin' rocks man!!High Tech Garden Supply

My Current set up: journal? this is VV's journal not my grow, but if you havnt seen this you should. It really shows you what T5's if used correctly can do. He uses a few in his grow. I only use 1. but you can get great results with The T5 take a look

i recently purchased the monster t5 from htg supply on ebay.it was 300 shipped and it comes with 2 four foot 4 bulb fixtures and 16 agromax bulbs.my plants are doing extremely well.i just wish i would have had them from the begining.they say the bulbs are cool in temperature, but mine get hot also.i havent tried the bloom bulbs yet , so maybe they will run a little cooler.

I use a 4 tube 4 footer to veg 20 plants till they are big enough to go into 5 gallon buckets. Lots of good growing light for cheap power and low heat.

T5's arent designed for anything but veg are they? Anyone used them to flower? I know I read in National Garden Wholesale catalog it has a banner saying propagation and below it another saying full term lighting but my buddy who runs a LGS only talks about them like any other flourescent for veg.

yeah you can get great buds from that 40k Lumen t5 for sure. You can keep it so close and light is evenly spread, with low heat.

does anyone kmow how to post pics on here and direct me into doing so?please do, so i can show some buds from a t5.the plants werent started with t5s ,they were started with 3 flouro shoplight bulbs and i gave them nothing but distilled water and light even when i did receive the monster t5 from htg supply that comes with 8 agromax grow bulbs and 8 agromax bloom bulbvs with 2 4bulb 4 ft fixture which is great since i have 4 in bloom and 20 ijn veg.i am a newbie , but hey i am addicted to growing.i starte out with 10 plants and got 6 females.i am pretty sure i killed the males before they contaminated my teenagers.so , back on the subject,i think?well i forget?, but anyway i started at 10 for my first grow with 3 flouros, bought a monster t5 to spice em up , and now i have 20 in veg and 6 in flowering and from what i see the veg is amazing as opposed to th 3 shop lights that i starte the 10 with.as for budding, i will have to post some pics to get some feedback since its my first time blooming,so please give me step by step to post em on the thread and or siteso you can be thje judge.i can use some judging and hopefully a pat on the back as a newbie.
