Whats Better 8-54W t5 or 400/600W HID with HPS bulb for flowering stage

I have yet to purchase my flowering light and was looking for opinions of if one is clearly better that the other. Taking out any heat or proximity issues. Just overall performance for quality buds.

I preferred flowering in 600w HPS how many plants are you doing and how big of a space??

I flower with T5's (18 of em) You get better quality and less yield. With an 8 bulb light you are gonna need to grow small plants.
There are pics of my setup in my sig links

I would say LED over the T5 and the 600 hps. I use to grow with HID lights but no more I'm all LED and the plants are loving it and my room is 81F with no A/C and I'm running 2653 true watts for my 4 x 10 grow area and my 4 x 4 tent

PS 81F is great for LED growing it helps the plants transpire moisture so they can feed properly. I also made a veg light for my 2 x 4 tent that runs 330 watts but I'm gonna make it a 400 watt when my extra COB LED's come.

Right now I have two going and they will eventually be in a 4'x4'x7' space. This my first grow so I'm starting out small but would probably want to support no more than 5-10 plants at any one time.

Unless you are one of those guys that argues a 600w is more economical based on lumen output vs cost. But most of those growers have x10+ 600w's lol.... If you are a small(er) grower that wants performance with 1 or 2 lights than you are much better off with a 1k watt. I suggest Lumatek ballasts... Never done me wrong and doesn't interfere with radios, televisions, and other electronics. bongsmilie

Oh and yeah Id go LED too if I could afford thousands of dollars in lights to make up for the lack of performance output compared to HIDs. I'd also never go T5's... Too much light adjusting especially if you are running a larger system. Going T5's is like drinking fluoride... some use/do it and don't even know how bad it is.... and some know better and choose a better water source. Another bongsmilie 'n' some bars w/ some :spew: from Absinthe smuggled over seas.

That's funny LOL HaHa, I never adjust my T5's, they are stationary. I truly love how much folks don't know about light :)

You can NOT argue with yield when it comes to HIDs vs T5's. Yeah you can come close but you can't out perform HID's light. Your environment might be better in general and therefore yours grows better than a regular/sub-par HID grow, but equal environment/same grower... HIDs > T5s. You can find that in the Old and New Testament.

Keep stretching your plants, been there done that with CFLs.
Funny again LOL, My plants don't stretch, just flipped 5, 2 weeks ago they are all buddin and have only grown 4 inches. Ya just should not be so sure about what you're sayin when ya really don't know. I posted up above that ya give up some yield with T5's but you can up the quality over 10 times if ya know what you're doin and after 40+ years I have a bit of a clue LOL you relly should read my sig links :)

I am not telling you that you don't grow good weed with T5's so don't act all offended. I did check out your thread and it looks like the same quality of my 2nd/3rd run of hydro. You can get both quality and quantity with HIDs.... I am not sure whoever stated you need a low quantity for high quality?

I'm not offended, I try to teach folks everyday, some listen, some argue, it is what it is. And I'm not sayin that you are arguing. Like I said if you want yield go HPS, if ya want one hitter fire go T5. If your growin to sell/profit then you want yield, if you're a med patient growing your own meds then you want fire. There is no argument here, just possibly a different understanding of quality :)

Why do you produce BETTER buds with T5's?
there are several reasons, one is the way the light diffuses, but the #1 thing is being able to tweak the spectrum, I have UV and deep blue basically it is easier to replicate the spectrum of the sun in the tropics

I use a MH bulb that is NOT enclosed in glass. That gives off UVB rays. So my 1k hps and 600w MH wouldnt produce the same quality? Given the spectrum, UVB, and the similar light diffusion (higher elevated HID w/ B/W poly = same as lower T5's, yes?)
