Well, I can't figure out why you want a full spectrum bulb when the plants mainly utilize the higher end of the spectrum for vegging and the lower end for flowering. Using the wrong "color" of light ultimately means slower growing plants and decreased yield.

I know it's kind of a PITA to have to switch out bulbs, but you can always use BOTH 2700k and 6500k throughout the grow. Just make sure that during veg the majority of your lights are 6500k and during flower most of them should be 2700k.

Yeah I agree with you.

No fluorescent technically qualifies as full spectrum. Tungsten halogen lamps do, high pressure xenon does, and so do a couple others. None are really efficient. Plants don't need full spectrum lighting, though.

I was just looking at some pics of your plants, GG13. They're going to be HUGE. I wish I had the patience to veg for 11 weeks :?
Man I tell you what, after the the 7-8 week they just grow like crazy nodes everywhere and you just don't want to flower them because you dig the change. Oh and the smell, oh my! I had to add my small V~kush because she was smelly up my veg room. I wanted to wait for her to get 24" but she is close to 18" and she stinks up the house! SO in she went, after the pics.

i have 4 sunleaves satellite IV high output floros in my veg room.. i have used them since i started growing.. each ballast puts off 44,000 lumens... besides and amazing lumen output, the great thing about them is they only get around 90F at the most... they are pricey but can easily keep up with HID grows..

they come with bloom or grow bulbs.. but you can run a combination of bulbs if you want.. right now im using 2 of each bulb in my veg.. i have a ton of pics in my hydro journal of vegging plants under them... ill post a couple here too.. you can also check my youtube video out of my last grow a couple weeks before harvest..

these floros are amazing.. pricey.. but well well worth the cost.. i am able to keeo them within an inch of my canopy without burning the plants... and you can start seedlings under them without any problems as well.. you end up with really bushy compact plants...

the pics are of 3 week old plants... the first is a white shark and the second is of an og kush... the pics were taken thursday...

its prolly not what your looking for.. but its an option...

Hey nutcracker,

If you're looking for a more affordable option than the TT-105s simpsonsampson mentioned, then high output T5s are a great way to go. I have one 4ft T5 strip and a few handfuls of CFLS (2 26 W bulbs for each plant, one of each 2700k and 6500k). The T5 cost me about $30 for the fixture and bulb, replacement bulbs are about $15. CFLs are about $8 for a 3-pack of 26W bulbs, and you can pick up a few clamp-on work lights with reflectors for under $10 each. I used Y splitters ($2) in these clamp on fixtures that screw into the bulb socket and allow you to put 2 bulbs in one fixture. They're awesome because they're easy to move around (just clamp it wherever you want it), inexpensive to buy and don't use a lot of electricity.

I love my CFLs, but I REALLY love my T5. It's been running constantly for a month, and never even gets so much as WARM to the touch. That means I can put it right on top of my plants without having to worry about burning them (CFLs can get pretty hot, though. I've burned my arm twice already, and one plant =( ).

Anyway, good luck to you!

This one comes with a 6500k (veg) bulb, but you can get a 2700k bulb for around $15-$20 at Lowe's or Home Depot to switch out when it's time to flower. Or you can keep the 6500k bulb and get some 2700k CFLs with clamp on fixtures for flowering.

You can also get the T5 fixtures that will hold 2, 4, or 8 bulbs. These are a bit more expensive than the single strip light, naturally, but one 4ft 4 bulb fixture will put out somewhere in the range of 20,000 lumens and 250W.
