ya know, its been so long since i used a media, i forgot to ask if you had covers over the hydroton. if not, they need to be covered using anything you have handy.

Good question, after your post about the collars, I looked it up. I'll go get them tomorrow. I'm using foil right now. I've only grown in rockwool but the machine i'm running now says they recommend hydroton.
 
It can definitely damage your grow. Spraying it with straight Hydrogen Peroxide may help or you could remove the balls with the mold and soak them in a fungicide then put them back. Cooking them in an oven for about 30 min at 200 degrees would do it too. I used hydroton on my first couple of grows then went with straight net pots. The mold spores have contaminated your pump, res, and anything else the water has come in contact with, so you'll have to deal with that also before your next grow.

Yea I had issues with that also, but I use every other site. I have the 33 unit. Its really ment for sea of green but I like its functions and Ph stability. I can leave it alone for a few days and not stress out. I work strange hours and sometimes can't come home everyday....

Very cool, that's good to hear. I just got it 2 Weeks ago so i'm still trying to get used to it and tweak some things. I'm used to doing flood and drain. This mold issue has me pretty pissed, any idea of how I could have got it? Everything is new in my grow room, I bombed it before I stated this grow, cleaned everything with bleach...i'm not sure why I got it
 
that is the perfect system to run no media, just net pots and collars. you should check my thread, my 3 stages of flower, to see my system.
