interesting. arrays of arrays seem to be the thing

but at what cost?

guess we'll know soon...

I was thinking with these new ones mark just showed with 4 cobs on a Single sink, there could be some interesting stuff done with em. They're basically a single light source but one could mix CCTs like crazy. Try using 4 of them all with 3,4,5,&6k cobs :P see how that does. Or 2700,3000,3500,4500. The combos are endless.

you can do the same thing today with any number of $10-$15 cobs. not as sexy as mark's design but that should never stop you from experimenting!

will advise pricing shortly, due for release in August

mark do you happen to know ppfd of a single cxb3590 on 4'x4'? Looking to order a single MAU kit from you to do a test, or do you really think I should wait til august? I'm looking to spend under $150 on lighting per 4x4.

Jorge suggested the LED MOD MSERIES 4FTA 5000K STRIP but I think that's going to cost roughly the same with heatsinks. I'd rather have a single light source with more throw so I'm not limited to growing under a shelf.

3500K?, do you just want the centre measurement of PPF, what distance do you want it measured from?

I'm not sure what you have in mind for growing geometry, but as far as heat sinks, the 1" profile at heatsinkusa would be about $7.

$150 is going to be very difficult, I hope you figure out a way to do that. Back of the napkin, you'll need more like a 4x3590 growmau5 kit per 4x4 tray to hit ~300 PPFD, if you really mean 16 sq ft stuffed with greens.

Oh yeah, I just linked to 5000K. Hopefully you know what spectrum you need.

3500k, or 5000k. center measurement, 24" and 36"

I'm wondering if I can hit that 300 ppfd by having 1 cob per 4'x4', by using overlapping light from adjacent trays. (example, 64 sq ft with 4 trays)

I will test one in the morning and see how it pans out

@anomolies I hate to be a wet blanket, but even if we lived in the future with 100% efficient light sources, 50W isn't going to be enough over a 4x4 area. It just isn't.

imho..self powered white led tubes are the ticket..as far as we are seeing..you have to get closer[which is good] and yes you use more than one per 4 x 4..we have tried panels, bars, and tubes
In my mind, the Samsung strips on a cheap hsusa heatsink, or led tubes are equivalent. There's a reason everybody grows like you are recommending. It's what I've always done in my kitchen :)

Have any pictures?
