What is PH supposed to do if plants are growing? my PH is staying steady not going up or down

Yesterday at 12:21 PM "PPMS 843 staying steady"

Today at 12:15 PM "MY PPMS are not moving neither is PH. its 5.6 and PPMS 796. steady for 24 hrs."

843 ==> 796 is not "steady for 24 hrs". That's a significant drop and that's a good sign

How about posting pictures and more info about the grow? We know that it's hydro and that the plants are 2" tall but that's about it. More info would be very helpful.

What type of TDS pen/meter are your using and when was that last time you calibrated it? I'm asking that because as @rkymtnman says, an EC of 1.6 for 2" plants is unusual so maybe your TDS readings are off.
OK i will try and post pics. im going to larger resivoir. and starting all over with the nutes. with distilled water. I accidentally used spring water last time and it had ppms like 183. i'll try for 600 to 700 ppms

OK, I moved everything up to 4 gallon reservoir. mixed nutes are at 406 ppm and 5.5 ph. small water pump running on lowest setting. and air stones of course.

You won't see much of a water drop or anything with little ones like that. Just keep checking it daily, it should be pretty stable. As the plant grows and roots get bigger you will start to see it. You have the water level an inch or two below net pot?

they look very healthy to me.

you should start seeing a ppm drop and probably a pH rise and some water drop if everything is OK.

i like setting the pH at 5.5 and then let it rise until it gets to about 6.1 and then add some ph down

Totally off topic question - where did you get that res?

The reason that I'm curious is that I have a res that looks like it's the same design but it's 35 gallons, 28 usable.

Yeh, that would be a pisser!

It looks like is the same manufacturer of as my res. No issues with light.
His is white, white has a bad reputation of being translucent and let's light in. Even my white 2" pvc has to be covered and it's thicker than a tote normally is. I just don't want to see him get the funk

Understand. White paint buckets allow light in because translucence is not a property that's part of the design (ie. "Who gives a shit - it's paint bucket!").

This res is a SuperPonics 8, one of three in the SuperPonics line. As best I can tell, those reservoirs were designed by and built for SuperPonics. I've had my SP 12XL since 2017 and it's dark as a whale's ass in there.

I've not used one. No way I'd pay that much for something I can build for under 50$ maybe light don't get thru idk but I'd triple check if I was them. Root rot is not worth it.
