What is a good light for a 4x4x6.5 grow space?

Really? So what is and why do the majority of professional commercial growers use them and 315CMH? Only one commercial grow in Alaska running LED.
Because its a proven tech, led is new and a lot of commercial growers dont want to switch out of fear of losing out on yield or potency, but that doesnt mean that HPS out yields LED or has higher potency.
Just because more commercial growers use HPS means that it automatically yields more?

So you think they are in a cash business willing to accept lower yields why?

The largest commercial operation near Fairbanks helped a lot of new growers get used lights cheap. Switching back to HPS. 315CMH units $150 @.

But please explain what is the best for yiel.

A perfect setup would include HPS, MH, and blurple and throw in some 6500K Cobs, and some 5000K Cobs

from a spectrum standpoint....reduce flower time....likely crystal queens

Thats exactly what I'm talking about. pretty good, but no where near the same level.
of course not compared to commercial growers...I also have a space restriction more severe then OP....

I used to grow in late 90's full 5 1/2 foot single cola in 5 gal buckets so this cropping is new to me and veg time to keep em under 3 1/2 feet

these are smaller than I would like and just sunk a clone few days ago in a 6+ gal pot (those in pics are in 4 gal pots) so next ones will be larger

I just grow for personal but definitely have a problem with putting an HPS in a closet (much like a 4 X 6 foot clearance tent)

how high did you think one could grow when hanging an HPS from a 6 foot ceiling?

I mentioned air cooled 600 hps read my post. Promise it is the most beginner friendly lamp for the op. 100 bucks with fan bulb hood anywhere in the world.

I saw that and looked at it...looks nice
so maybe so...technology has certainly changed...I just can't even begin to imagine putting a 600 watt Hps in that small of space

my electric bill (including 24 hr veg cabinet and fan on timer) is around $30 extra a month....my grow closet just under 400 watts!

How big of a space did you run that 1950w?
4'x9' area and a 4'x4' area. All in a 12'x8' shed that i usually run 3k watts of hps. Was hoping the led was going to be a game changer. Don't get me wrong. the led bud came out good, just not hps good i believe. My hps buds are in the frosty bud thread on the site. Last was the Mimosa. Check it out if you haven't seen it, super high level quality.

That's interesting I'm guessing the 2 600h were in the 4x9 section I would think the quality would be same or better an yield slightly lower it's to bad your not allowed to try them out again haha

When did I say HPS was lower yields? You said HPS was higher yields and I told you that's wrong. LED is producing just as good of yields. Which has been shown by more than enough people.
It's different when it's not a hobby I guess. I'm sure LED can produce. At what cost going In? Cheap HPS beats cheap LED. Period.

Why? I run a 1000 watt hps in a 4x4x 7.5 and my temps are at 79-80 max with no a.c. running just an outtake and negative air pressure pushes out the hot pulls in the cool and gives a nice balance

at least you have a foot more clearance than OP

wonder how much that outtake fan runs ya and what would happen if/when it fails? all fans fail eventually...just gonna fry your grow? or your whole house?

Hope your using heavy gauge cables and cords

daughter of a friend of mine's house burned down few years back from an HPS grow while she was at work

you know what your doing but OP is a new to growing

I'd still advise Led

Yeah shit happens so just take preventative measures.. I get it, and I am also a new grower first time growing anything. As of led to hps I'm not having an opinion until I try it myself but as of now I really see no difference between the two in other journals.

Yes true there is a higher initial cost to buy into LED, which is decreasing as time goes on, but the savings in energy makes up for it, where as HPS is cheap up front, but the energy costs to run them are increased, so in reality. They probably level out. I really dont care, use whatever works for you and your grow room. I was just stating that today's LEDs can match HPS.
