What exactly do bongs filter out?

I've heard people say bongs filter the smoke and cool it before it moves along to your lungs. What exactly do they filter out?

yes heat, and some of the nasty shit in smoke...i've also read that they filter out thc, so it takes more bong rips to get high...thats why i always find myself ripping the bong alot whenever i bust it out...

Well then. . . no more bongwater smoothies for me!

they filter and they cool, just look at the water after a few sessions
but they don't filter all that well
joints actually filter better than bongs, provided you only smoke the 'top' 2/3 of the joint
not many of us do that though
then there are the vaporizers for the really health conscious

Since THC isnt water soluble or whatever, Id assume you are getting at least 98% of the THC, And filtering out the things you normally would inhale, Like burning paper fumes all up in your lungs.

I think the safest way to smoke is a vaporizor. I like the Kia's.
The Bongs are awesome because they do cool the smoke
and I think it hits you harder if you are really packin and rippin.

Although I also noticed, Switching smoke techniques can keep it
fresh, Smoke a pipe for a while, then hit a fresh bong rip...
It just feels better than it did before.

And another thing I want to say about bongs.... I re-fill my bong with
water after EVERY smoke "session". I dont let it sit there and start
looking like the water in a rainbow vaccuum cleaner after you
did the whole house. And because of that I can immeadiatly
notice if the water in somebody elses bong is fresh or not...If
its been smoked out of more than twice I can barely stomach the taste
because usually that means its been sitting for a few hours getting warm
and nasty. And even putting your bong in the fridge with dirty ass water
is just stupid and pointless. If you arent using fresh bong water might
as well just smoke through your terd filtered toilet water its about the same thing.

Kinda ruins it for me. I like to make every smoke experience I have
with a bong.... A good one all around. Fresh bong water is KEY.

Bongs cool the smoke and filter out some of the sticky residue resulting from burning weed. Mostly it just cools the smoke.

the only thing i've heard on this topic comes from jason king, so take it with a grain of salt. in one of the Cannabible's he says that bong water filters out more THC than carcinogens

for all i know he makes money for promoting their website but i doubt it. i think Vriptech looks like a more healthy way to hit the bong but i'll never buy their product. for one reason i can't afford it, and for another i have no beef with traditional bong hits.

i tend to agree with previous posts that bong water becomes black because its filtering out carcinogens that would otherwise be absorbed by the lungs.

i don't take jason king's info to heart but i think its an interesting.

there used to be a water pipe, can't remember the name, that had a rotating blade in the water
not quite a bong, but you could make a bong with this tech
created a cyclone in the water, increaing the filtering efficiency

I had a bowl filled with water when I was in Amsterdam, had to throw it away before I left though. It cooled down the smoke great.

Bongs get you ripped way more. Blunts are ok every now and then but for every day use bongs hand down.

bongs filter out carcinogens and ash when you inhale through the water. when you rip the bong real hard you tend to see some ash pool through and go into the bong water. its not the case if you have an ash catcher obviously.

No it's not. Swisher Sweets are the bane of my existence.

it filters out the goodies too. after 15 years of being a pothead, i actually did some objective research and realize now that smoking the marijuana is incredibly inefficient, especially for medical reasons and the use of a bong is like the least efficient way to smoke. vaporizing ftw

I dont know why everybody and their mother likes grape.

My far my least favorite flavor to smoke with.
Peach, watermelon... I mean way better than a fucking purple ass grape.
Reminds me of everybody drinking that cheerwine shit.
