Hi-
Fixin' to buy some HPS and wonder whether I want 2- 600 watts or 3- 400 watts. How's about y'all give me some pros and cons. I appreciate it!
I want to flower as many plants as possible at any one time, if that helps.
Thanks again.

600 hundred will give you the most lumens/square foot tho. Which in turn will give you bigger and more dense tops. jus my 2cents

Thanks folks. Re:Space . . . I own a 3br house and most of it can be used. I'm new to HPS, but not to growing.
What's the maximum sq. foot coverage for the 400 watt rigs? The 600's?
Also, how far above the greens do these things hang? Is there a rule of thumb?

Two 600s will be cheaper, and moreso if you go with a dual lumitek digital 600w. Its a cool running digital ballast that runs two 600w lamps. I use a 1000w HPS right now and thats my next lighting purchase.

That lumatek 600 ballast is kinda spendy initially. I mean, it appears MsDoe could get 3 400's for under 360$$, bulb, ballast, reflector and cords. I'm sure digital is where things are heading, but the ballast alone is 440+ $$.
Isn't this basically the same thing, only about 300$$ less? http://www.htgsupply.com/viewproduct.asp?productID=45680
So do you mean cheaper to operate, in the long run?
