i hope you and your fam are ok with the car thing , you have some really beautiful landscaping
Thanks sunni, yeah all good here. The boy's really glad I made him do the recycling run with me. :/
The scenery out here is nice. A little flat in the immediate area but proper rural and quiet. Some of the ditches are a little scuffed up, but nothing to spoil the landscape. :)

bro that sucks, I'm glad you and the kid are ok

This one time I flipped my truck into a ditch like that. The road was wet and I caught 3rd gear really hard in a curve trying to drift, I drifted right into the ditch and upside down. My cooler of beer bottles, ridin shotgun, hit me in the head/face. Shit happens.

Yeah, Land Rover Discovery. Now affectionately referred to as the Discothèque Wreck. Don't worry, its all down to the driver. Can't even really blame the ice as it was just minding it's own business...
How do you like the Freelander? I've had everything from Series II's to V8 Range Rovers, but never a Freelander. It's on the to do list.
I see a lot of the Petrol ones going cheap with head gasket failure. K series engines like the old Rover 416's. Almost designed to blow gaskets.
Yea we like it, we pull a 17ft boat with it and it does the job. We had a Volkswagon Tiquan before with one of those automatic hand brakes and it was a pain in the ass, my grandkids kept disengaging and if you didn't notice it look out lol. We would never have a petrol they are a bit to thirsty.

Blighty and Ireland depending on what's occurring.
Never been to 'Proper Job', sounds horrible. :)

I'm not a fan of electric this and auto that. Give me a clunky old truck any day. We need to tow occasionally too, and aside from an older model Land Cruiser, I probably wouldnt stray far from the Land Rover stable. A Freelander would make a fine addition to the driveway.

It's a Cornish thing, as a place name it would suck though aye.
Mind you when you come from an area with place names like 'tregadillit', 'mousehole' or hills on moors called 'brown willy' perhaps 'proper job' is not that out of place.

Mousehole's lovely. I had the book as a kid and it was a nice place to go and be touristy.
I picked daffodils down at St. Kevern a few years ago, and it snowed. Some of the locals seemed to think the world was coming tonan end. Apparently it doesn't snow there unless the end times are coming!

I've heard that too, I grew up right on the Cornish coast and it rarely snows and even more rarely settles! Damn that glorious sea air!
I'd like to say that the clichés relating to the West Country or any deep country areas aren't true but if you go deep into 'the sticks' anywhere you will find some evidence of inbreeding.

Been on my couch in the living room for three and a half days in a row.

Just had surgery for a 4 part break in my shoulder. Now I'm part man, part machine with my fancy new titanium hardware.

Also got notice today that my disability will pay me a maximum of 17,000 dollars, depending on how long I'm out...

So as lot as I'm back to work in the next 4-5 months I should be fine.

So in other words, I'll be doing the driving whilst I'm visiting...I'll make sure to get insurance on the rental just in case.....
As a wise man once said:

"Be master of your own destiny: drive your own rental. And don't drive it anywhere near a school sports day, cos some idiot in a car that's too big for them will wipe you the fuck out."

I think that's what he said.
