Rookie mistakes?

Transplanted clones when they didn’t have a good root base….

Worried about bud size when I should have worried about leaf health, and root health…

Grew shallow rooted plants that were very susceptible to heat stress

Because I watered incorrect…

Didn’t use Perilite/vermiculite to help soil drain properly…and retain moisture yes, the use of both helps drainage, and water retention…

Overwatered [root rot, and smallish plants], and under watered [deep root death, and heat stress]…

Over ferted soil, and under ferted watering program…dialing it in…

There were more… except, once you get it correct, the plants grow, and grow very sweet….then you smoke some sweetness, and you forget all the past…

Good Growing!

Believe it or not I trusted directions on a can of white oil and it absolutely killed my sativa girl 4 weeks from harvest.. I had to cut every leaf off incl sugar leaves and cut into buds and loose a third of each one...very devastating but atleast I won't do that again.

Cats, i had no idea this guy would grow up from kitten to love weed, but i went on a weekend camping trip just to come home to 2 of my plants knocked over and half ate. Ive heard ppl say a plant grows trichs in order to defend itself against animals eating them because it taste so bad, but ive found buds during harvest time dragged off into the bedroom were he just goes to town, but considering he has a steady diet of licking his own ass hole i would imagine the taste of weed wont bother him.

"Over care" at their early stage...did my best to eliminate any chances of growing upwards...over water...over feed...over trimmed..over thought it...over before they had a chance...it's a plant that needs very little help...fortunately, I GOT OVER IT...g/l

Switched to R/O water and didnt supplement cal/mag. No calendar to mark what, where, and when I was doing all things. No PH meter. BIGGEST mistake, did tons of reading and tried to do every new thing I read about. I was defoliating, suppercropping, lsting. Oh what a fucked up first couple of runs. First couple of runs never hit 16 OZ's.So I went to the basics of just trying to grow a healthy plant all the way through. Now pretty much same set up running between 35-42 OZ's. If I change something now I change only 1 thing on 1-2 of the girls.

Checking on my planted seeds by digging them up to see if they were growing, Using cheap generic plant food that completely messed up my soil ph, smoking my whole harvest within 2 weeks its a long wait for more to grow

getting a clone and not having enough info, never did a clone, so adjusted it to outdoors but didn't know of light cycle and planted, possibly worlds smallest harvest 1 GRAM :dunce:

My biggest mistake was to go with hydro instead of organic soil with home made nutes.
I do not understand why a noob would want to try hydro with all the ph'ing and nutes when you can mix up some soil and water it with plain tap water and have great buds. It is by far the easiest way to grow great buds.

Mix soil
put seed/clone in soil
water with plain water when pot gets dry
profit

If you want to get fancy you can easily make home made teas/fert.
I am getting the same growth from organic soil with teas as I did with coco absolutely dialed in.

Most people, even many experienced growers over feed plants.

The best hydro/coco advice I heard on this site:

Check the ppm of your nutrient solution before watering, then check the ppm of your run off.
If the run off is higher ppm than the nute solution, you are over feeding.

Over feeding and heat are the most common reasons for monoecious hermaphrodites.

Getting high while changing water and forgetting to shut the shit off.. I flooded my areas 3 times because of that.
Believing the verbal diareah of the local grow store's owner and employees.
spraying azatrol during flowering.

absolutely destroying the top layer of potential root zone with rough watering methods/no mulch, not protecting the sides of containers from the sun, getting spider mites and spraying neem oil once, then wondering a week later why I had them again, gosh the list goes on but it does start to get embarrassing.
