Hi. Newbie here. Just noticed these odd looking yellow balls at base of my plant. Any idea what they are ? There are no bugs except for gnats and the plant and buds look really good to me.
Fungus aka mushrooms. In the early stages. Gnats carry fungus aka fungus gnats. There could be a connection here. I've had a couple soils have this happen over the years, can be because the soil is fertile but exposed to the spore somehow. It can also happen because the soil is tainted.

Is it harmful ?

I will remove and I have yellow sticky traps keeping the gnat problem at bay. I always end up with gnats. Maybe a problem with foxfarm soil ?
I do t see any yellow fungus or anything in the plants it self just that one spot.

Yes, mushrooms. But no, not really the early stages. The mushrooms are the fruiting stage of mycelium. In fact, its the last stage before it drops its spores and the process repeats. Now I know you were just getting at the point that its early stages for the fruit (the mushroom) itself. But I'm pedantic dickhead so here we are lol

If you will top dress your soil with EWC and cover that with 1/2" of hardwood mulch, your fungus Gnat problem will be minimized. I still keep a yellow sticky trap or 2 in each area, but it takes 3-4 months before they are even 1/2 full. Your plant looks very nice BTW. good luck bro.

You're right I should have told the op that they didn't keep an eye out for those spores lmao.

Earth worm castings. I raise my own worms now but, I had good luck with 'Wiggle Worm" brand on Amazon. It won't burn your plants even it is in full contact with your plant. If you don't use a mulch to cover it, it will get a bit crusty.
There are insects in with the castings {Hypoaspis Miles} and the love to eat Gnat larvae. It is much safer than chemical remedies! Any other questions, just ask!
