What am I not doing right?

So I can bring my water level right up to and beyond my Rockwool? If that's the case then I will bring water level up and cover all holes in net pot with pebbles and let "nature" get on with it
That's how I have done it with multiple strains just barely showing roots from the RW. So far, no issues with it. I normally wait to lower my water level until the plant is more established.

Add nutrients at quarter dosage and build up from there. Always go under with nutrients until they are established or nutrient burn will break your heart.

When I was in hydro I would start them off at around 350ppm-400ppm and use that as a platform for increased dosages. Different people do different things with their nutrient schedule but that has always given me good fast vigorous growth.

If i understand you correctly; did you just state that you saw a root start "...to vegetate..." as in you mean it started to grow into a stem and leaves?
yeah I think it was at a very early stage of doing so, I think there's been a light beam directly on that single root from day 1 causing it to try to grow in to something other then a root :)

How old should my babies be before I start with nutes at quarter dose?
That really does depend on when the plant wants food. When its working on first/second true node maybe, depends.

Watch them, when the new growth is slightly lime coloured hit em with quarter dosage or a low ppm. It would be better if you give them 250-350 ppm rather than just saying a quarter strength as that could still be quite high.

Make up a small batch of veg nutrients at full dosage and measure the ppm's. That will give you a good guide as to where to start.

Feel free to let such a thing ride if you see it again and prove me wrong, but I'd bet my last $5 that was just algae growth. That stuff explodes on your roots if you let the light hit your rez in dwc. Like I said, feel free to show me otherwise. I have never heard of anything but algae growing on roots when your light starts getting into the rez.

Thought I would leave you to respond to that lol!

The real problem is if light gets to the roots algae will grow, if algae grows it will use up oxygen, if oxygen is gone, well you get the idea.

And I will add $5 to the above that it was algae.

okay, it probably was algae, I never had light leaks before, was just rapid-green root all of the sudden. I also wrote it with hesitation in my comment :)

Yeah that stuff goes crazy, it loves the nitrogen if I remember correctly.

I don't remember anybody saying there was something wrong with H2O2 in this thread. Did I miss something?
