Watering problem... ;\

Hey guys..

Now I now this is gonna sound like a really stupid question, but keep in mind there are no stupid questions (within reason), only stupid answers, so don't be dumb, I'm just asking for help...

I'm having a little problem here which translates into a disaster when you think about it...
My seeds seem to not be making it lately, after I plant the germinated seeds, they just dry out in the soil within a day and die.

The problem I realized is that whenever I try to water them, the water just doesn't go past the top of the soil. It kind of soaks and soaks and soaks and soaks the top layer, but it doesn't go any deeper, so the seeds never get any water.

What the fuck...

Any ideas how to solve this problem? If I water more, the water just sits on top, if I poke a hole, the water makes its way under the seed and flips it all around the place and it gets lost in the soil and disturbed and doesn't make it.
I need to water without turning over the soil, but the problem is basically that I can't seem to figure out how to do that because then the water just sits on top and doesn't reach the seeds.

Thanks...

The soil's actually surprisingly loose. I pretty puffy.

I think you may have diagnosed the problem, ryeguy, I'm probably not puting in enough perlite.
I'll try more of that next time..

Thanks guys!
