Hey! Sorry to dig out this thread, but as you are the guy currently helping me with my irrigation problem and who already has experience with aeroponics I thought I'm just gonna ask here because I'm also trying to set it up. Should my irrigation problems continue, I will probably switch sooner than later.

So this build is a recirculating aeroponics build. I didn't go through the whole history so apologies, if it's already mentioned couple times, but this is a high pressure aeroponics with pressure coming from the nutrient feed line, right?
Did you experience any problems when starting? Was recirculation a problem at some point? All I see is people recommending drain to waste for aeroponics.

Any pointers or comments are greatly appreciated.
Yes it's HPA running at 110-140 psi. I had problems with the return piping which I didn't get low enough starting out and resulted in stagnant water in the bottom of the chambers. That and electrical problems, had to modify the relay board with industrial classed relays intended for longer on intervals and 24V DC and up(operated by magnetism instead of mechanical).

I didn't have much other problems other than the learning curve of using and optimizing the system operation like the best way to do res changes and best way to bleed and re-pressurising the system.

Ah okay thank you. I also just swapped relais of my build. I had a few problems there.

My aeroponics nozzles would be fed by a gravity pressurised nutrient line and a high pressure air line to achieve air atomizing aeroponics.

So recirculating the rez was not problematic for you? That's good to hear.

Thank you, you're welcome! Im just starting out again, going back to basics growing in some coir. It's been a minute! I think last time was -07, happy to relearn old tricks.

Well see if I get to grow some more Aero in the future. The system is on the other side of the earth. I'm in very hot and humid climate nowadays. Gonna do some small personal indoor and try my luck at growing some trees outdoor.

That’s awesome. Where are you from?

i have a 13k sf commercial grow in Oklahoma. Aero from moms to full flower. Built the system myself. Good times lol . 2 main things driving me nuts is LEDs and RO water. Was awesome with cmh but these LEDs are definitely different. Have a time lapse on YouTube. Just search Amusibles Oklahoma. Crappy time lapse. Put it up to show my parents back in canada

Nice grow! I'm Scandinavian, northern Europe, still very illegal here. One day I set up a commercial grow down here. LED's for sure need higher ceilings. I had to up my nutrient strength slightly going from HID's to LED's to keep them happy. So much usable light compared to HID's.

Now I'm in 12/12 hours sunny land, maybe I'll try to find some Myanmar/Laos/Thai seeds here?, haha! . They grow like crazy in coir in this climate for sure, just have to figure out what to do with the high humidity outdoors. A lot of things ahead for sure. Maybe I'll post something here but it's not as fun with coir plants. Cheers!

Hey there wastei, hope all is well. Wanted to get your opinion on something. I was running Jack's 5=12-26 but had some issues with it. Started using megacrops version but noticed a slick surface to my rez. Started digging into silica and its effects and think that may be the problem. Apparently mc's 5-12-26 has silica in it. Did you run into issues like this? Thanks in advance

Sounds more like biofilm/algae. Potassium silicate is a surfactant and should help combat "slick" surface and biofilm to certain degree.

Keep the reservoir stable with a small amount of chlorine. Most people and operations use regular bleach(sodium hypochlorite). I run 1-3ppm depending on growing method and medium.

Here the dilution calculator I've always used:

Thanks a million for the info and I was thinking the same (being algae). Was running some UC clear line but maybe not using enough. Thanks again and hope life is treating you well man.

Up and running again with some coir plants. Not giving up on Aero and the system is still in storage. When I have better space and location there will be more Aero.

Meanwhile it's fun to relearn old tricks! Got a really sick Kali Mist mom back from my old cut from 2 years ago. First picture is when I first transplanted here and put her in the tent and the two others is 10 days after.

She get fed at 0.8 EC twice a day currently. Switched 2 days ago. Going to increase to three times a day in a while, and increase all the way through flower up to 5x daily while keeping EC low.

Sad sad girl when I got her, she even used to look worse, greened up on the window sill before I got the tent up lol!...

Going to pop some more Kali Mist and AK47 and I have rooted cuttings of Skywalker OG and GSC which I haven't flowered yet. Have a lot of work ahead of me. Gonna get a lot of work done tomorrow. Need to get a veg tent up and running. Probably going to use 315cmh or the other Meijiu A8 panel

Feels good to do be back doing what I love, mending plants! Feel free to comment in my journal as usual. Cheers!

Lol luck. I'm having fun learning and messing up plants though! Thanks for the kind words.
You should have seen my first couple of plants starting out! Lol! You're doing great! Getting watering frequency right takes some trial and error for sure.

I like coir with maybe 40-50% perlite in containers. It's almost impossible to overwater and you get less leaching from the coir and a lot of moisture and aeration. Same feeding routine everyday and you can treat them like hydro plants instead of soil. They grow like hydro plants with the same or less footprint as soil grown plants. You're also able to cycle the medium often and feed more often than soil.

Cleaned her legs up a little bit.. Greening up more! Poor plants had a rough life before coming back to dad.

Haven't really initiated flower yet. Growing well and she drinks like a real Champion. Had to increase feedings to 4x a cycle (3x a day and 1x in the middle of the dark period). Didn't get any runoff on my second feeding so they need more.

Runoff is dead on and pH is dead on coming out. I might have seen some gnat eggs but they looked more like lazy Springtails in the runoff lol!. I have really good airflow blowing straight at the pot. It usually keep the small shitty flies at bay, they suck at flying. Making a vinegar water and soap mix in a bowl and I put it on the bottom of the tent as monitoring.

IMG_20230418_191454049.jpgShe's started to stack up. I consider this first day of stretch. Increased power of the LED's to 400, that's probably gonna be final this round out. Got the nets waiting to be installed.

Being fed some light dose of potassium silicate and Jacks 321, EC 1.0 at pH 6.3-6.5 4x a day. Probably not gonna do any more foliar from now one, if any a last dose of TRIA at 1ppm. Waiting for a new Tween20/polysorbate20 bottle to make it spread better, my bottle got lost in the move somehow.
IMG_20230418_191419775_HDR.jpgRoots were poking out three days after transplant. I put some of it down to a good substrate and feeding but also a little bit the foliar kelp/humic and TRIA 1ppm.

Got a new helper! Makes my life a lot easier. Set and forget, it used to be impossible to find this controller here back in the day. Cheers!

First net in! Just realized I've never made a journal with a long flowering Sativa on here. Always loved growing them since they are a little more finicky and harder to master. And the high is second to none, motivational and uplifting.

I really hope it's a good pheno, didn't have time to flower her out and cut everything at week 8 two years ago I think. Made icehash which was more potent then expected! This is gonna be a long ride!

Do you think this is going to kill the gnats? Lol! Sealed cannister from the 50's. They used to eat this as cereal in commercials to show how safe it was to use, not so safe for infants though.

Not ever going to use this of course! I keep it as one of my memories, now it's placed on one of my shelfs looking scary and prettty. Yes I like weird historical objects...

Lol reminds me of my mother-in-law telling me stories of chasing the ddt truck. Cool little piece of history crazy it's lasted so long.

Increased feedings from 4 to 5 times a day since I saw no runoff today at second watering. Schedule is as follows. Added some kelp and humic in the nutrient mix, 1/4tsp per gallon. Going to run kelp/humic until stretch is done!

2min on/off cycle

16:00-16:02
19:00-19:02
22:00-22:02
01:00-01:02
08:30-08:32

Probably going to need to change the cycles in a while when the plant mass is larger. Longer on cycles and two cycles during lights out. 5x a day is enough, just increase volume on those timings. Something like:

3min on/off cycle

16:00-16:03
20:00-20:03
00:00-00:03
07:00-07:03
13:00-13:03
