Thought of that, the only thing I could think of is cover for moving the troops. Might have been to force Moscow to get a payment plan for Wagner after July 1. It could also be cover for Putin, Russia is going to lose so why continue? Maybe have Prigozhin bring up that all the generals fooled Putin and this is cover for him to stop the fighting? The one thing Putin wants is a way out and to save face. This may be the win he can use to show that he is still in control of Russia?

Confirmed report the rebellion is over.

Ukraine launches simultaneous counteroffensives against several Russian fronts, defense official says
Taking advantage of the unfolding turmoil in Moscow on Saturday, Ukrainian forces launched simultaneous counteroffensives in multiple directions, according to Ukraine’s Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maliar.

"The eastern grouping of troops today launched an offensive in several directions at the same time," Maliar said in a Telegram post, naming several cities and towns, including Bakhmut and Yahidne, among the places where the offensive was launched.
Maliar said that "there is progress in all directions" without giving any further detail.

She said there is heavy fighting ongoing in the south of the country, adding that Russian forces are "on the defensive, making great efforts to stop our offensive actions."

Former President Trump said internal strife in Russia between the country’s military and mercenaries is “a big mess.”
Wagner mercenary leader Yevgeny Prigozhin announced his intentions Friday to use his mercenary forces to overthrow the Russian military leadership, accusing them of lying to the Russian people and firing on his troops.

Once his forces took over a military headquarters in Rostov-on-Don and began marching towards Moscow, the government of Belarus stepped in to negotiate an agreement to avoid bloodshed. On Saturday, Prigozhin ordered his troops to turn around.

“A big mess in Russia, but be careful what you wish for. Next in may be far worse!” Trump said on Truth Social.
The message was sent just as the negotiated settlement was announced.

Trump’s commentary adds to a history of criticizing President Biden’s reaction to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which began last year. Trump said that, if elected, he would “solve” the war within 24 hours and blamed the U.S. exit from Afghanistan for emboldening Putin to invade.

During his administration, Trump met with Putin and praised him as a good leader. Last year, Trump called Putin a “genius,” leading to criticism from his own party.

This could be why Wagner backed off, too late methinks, they crossed several redlines that will be worth their lives. Moscow won't make that mistake again and loyal troops will be stationed around Moscow, Prigozhin is as good as dead as soon as Vlad gets around to poisoning him or tossing him out a high window. This buys Vlad time to prepare, but won't be forgiven or forgotten, it was too public and too much of a stab in the back, this weakened Vlad considerably and the military won't forget either. Meanwhile all Hell is about to break loose in Ukraine as they begin their offensive in earnest. This shit must have bottomed out morale among the Russian troops at the front, but let's hope the Ukrainians also cut their logistics too.
