I'm sure Putin is heartened by Assad being re-accepted into the Arab community,an eg. of how playing the long game can effectively blunt war crimes, genocide, and treachery, the attention span wanes and in the end Nations act in their own self interest morals be damned.

russia call's every bit of aid given to Ukraine a colossal risk...They're getting kind of pathetic.
They have practically nothing left, and they're still threatening the world. It makes me think of my Grandpa's Weiner dog, Tubby...2 inch legs, balls that drug on the ground, no fangs left, weighs about 40 pounds, and still barks and howls at anything that comes in the yard, even though he was too old and fat to even waddle after a squirrel any more...

What are the dangers of F-16 fighters and how are they different from the MiG-29.
Ukraine may receive F-16 fighter jets from Western countries. The Armed Forces of Ukraine need aircraft of this type, as they will allow them to receive air support during the counteroffensive and create a balance of power in the air. URA.RU has collected information about how dangerous the F-16 fighter is and how it differs from the Russian MiG-29.

The F-16 is a fourth-generation multirole fighter. With its high-precision missiles and bombs, it is capable of causing severe damage to the enemy army. In addition to high-precision missiles and good aerobatic properties, the aircraft has a 20-mm M61A1 six-barreled gun on board. This gun has the ability to fire depleted uranium projectiles. The F-16 fighter is rightfully considered the best among similar single-engine aircraft. The fighter engine is reliable and has an excellent thrust-to-weight ratio.
Armed Forces of Ukraine refused to admit defeat in Bakhmut
The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are still fighting in Bakhmut (Artemivsk). This statement was made by the representative of the Ukrainian troops, Sergei Cherevaty. So he responded to the words of the head of Wagner PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin about the capture of the city.

"It is not true. Our units are fighting in Bakhmut, ”Cherevaty said, answering a question about the veracity of Prigozhin’s statement about the capture of the city. His words convey Reuters.

Earlier, Prigozhin said that Bakhmut was taken by the PMC Wagner . He specified that his troops would begin leaving the city from May 25.
Military expert named the next target of the Russian army after Bakhmut
After the liberation of Bakhmut (Artemovsk), the Russian army will be engaged in pushing the enemy back from Donetsk and other territories located near the city. This was reported to URA.RU by a military expert, combat veteran, captain of the first rank of the reserve Vasily Dandykin.

“Next will be the liberation of the territory of Donetsk, the Donetsk arc. It is necessary to push the Armed Forces of Ukraine away from Donetsk as soon as possible, because the nightmare that they arrange ... They undermine trains, kill people who have their own opinions, break through with sabotage and reconnaissance groups into our territories. They strike at Donetsk, killing civilians, they give a nightmare. Drive them further. Avdeevka, Marinka, Seversk, Konstantinovka, Slavyansk, Kramatorsk. According to the Constitution, these are the territories of the Russian Federation, which means they need to be liberated,” said Vasily Dandykin.

At the same time, the military expert noted, the Russian army will push back the front line so that the Armed Forces of Ukraine cannot shell Russian territory. “Of course, Kherson and Zaporozhye. And if they shoot, then you need to drive away even further. Undoubtedly, it's hard. Now Kyiv is completely dependent on the supply of weapons from the West, because their Soviet weapons are almost completely destroyed in the battles. Now the armored vehicles of America and NATO have already gone into consumption, ”added the source of the agency.
The field orderly explained why the NWO fighters are not told where they are sent to the last
Information about the location of Russian troops is kept secret in order to avoid being hit by missiles from the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Any shortcoming can cost the lives of soldiers, says a field orderly with the call sign Box, originally from Tatarstan.

“I went as a volunteer and had no combat experience. I was trained in Kazan for two months, after which they transferred me to the border region, where they kept me for another week and a half. Everything is kept secret so that no missiles are fired at us. Otherwise, there would be losses, ”the Podmoskovye Segodnya newspaper reports the words of Boxing.

Earlier, the head of the Russian Defense Ministry, Sergei Shoigu, checked the training of contract soldiers before being sent to the special operation zone. To do this, he visited the training grounds of the Western Military District.
So quit whining comrade.
Prigozhin named the date of withdrawal of Wagner PMC from Bakhmut
From May 25, the withdrawal of Wagner PMC fighters from Bakhmut (Artemovsk) will be organized, who will go for rest and retraining. This was told by the founder of PMC "Wagner" Yevgeny Prigozhin.

“From May 25, Wagner PMC will withdraw its units from Bakhmut,” Prigozhin reports his words. He added that the fighters will be sent for rest and retraining. During this time, defensive lines will be created in the city, which will be transferred to the forces of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

Earlier, Prigozhin announced the capture of Bakhmut . The last section of the city was liberated at 12 noon.

The Russians won't be able to make any more while under sanctions and I figure most of them are grounded for lack of spares and trained pilots.

Russia puts ICC prosecutor on wanted list following Putin warrant: reports
Russia has placed the prosecutor for the International Criminal Court (ICC) on a wanted list in response to the court issuing an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin, Russian state-run media reported.

RIA Novosti reported on Saturday that British prosecutor Karim Khan was placed on the list by the Russian Internal Affairs Ministry, having been charged with “bringing a knowingly innocent person to criminal liability” and “unlawful accusation of a person of committing a grave or especially grave crime.”

The charges filed against Khan are felonies, according to Politico.

The Russian government opened criminal cases against Khan and ICC judges Tomoko Akane, Rosario Salvatore Aitala and Sergio Gerardo Ugalde Godinez in March. This was just days after the ICC issued arrest warrants for Putin and another top Russian official over alleged war crimes pertaining to the illegal forced deportation of children from Ukraine to Russia amid the war.

Putin has denied that war crimes are being committed in the conflict, and Russia has said its program is designed to save children who have been abandoned where the conflict zone is, Reuters reported.

RIA reported that the judges were charged with deliberate unlawful detention and preparation for an attack on a representative of a foreign state.

The other official that ICC has issued an arrest warrant for is Maria Alekseyevna Lvova-Belova, who serves as commissioner for children’s rights in the Russian president’s office. Authorities have alleged that she “bears individual criminal responsibility” for her role in the deportation scheme.
Putin is unlikely to be brought into an international court of law to face the charges against him, but the warrant was still a major denunciation of Putin on an international level.

Russia does not accept the ICC’s authority, but the court has argued it can charge Russian officials because Ukraine has accepted its jurisdiction to investigate crimes committed by Russia in Ukrainian territory.

The f-16 is a dependable, versatile, cost effective 4th gen fighter,Mach 2 and highly manouverable, excells in air to air and ground attack, getting a little long in tooth(esp. the earlier versions)but is constantly rec. avionic and electronic updates, still a force to be reckoned with in the hands of well trained pilots who still swear by the capability of the "Viper" as it's affectionately called in pilot circles, would hate to see downed aircraft in enemy hands but it's probably moot at this point,it's served so long that it doesn't have many secrets not already known by adversaries.

They do not want the Russians to get hold of the electronics, the rest of the airplane is not much of a secret for them.

They are taking over! o_O

Maybe they should call the NRA for advice, they were really close and got a lot of Russian money to pass on to the republicans, so they can at least provide some service in getting Russian civilians armed! Like Vlad wants his internal security forces going up against armed people and pissed off army veterans. The NRA does have a lot of experience working in Russia, maybe that Russian gun's rights group can help them?

I understand there is a lot of support for joining with Ukraine in the oblast though and a lot of ethnic Ukrainians live there...

It won't do them much good since they can neither buy nor make the electronics. We need not give the Ukrainians to latest and greatest electronic upgrades, just enough to defeat the Russians, which can be a decade or two old. Most of the electronics are modularized and the old modules are probably in storage, many upgrades are firmware based these days.

More arms and ammo, the Ukrainians must be accumulating it, because other than Bakhmut where they've used territorials for the most part to pin the Russians down, there has not been too much fighting. They have been using long range missiles to shape the battlefield, kill Russian C&C and cut of Russian logistics though. It's my guess the Ukrainians are saving their offensive troops and ammo for a big punch in the Russian's face that could turn into a knockout blow. Once the Ukrainians get them panicked and running, the Russians won't stop until they are inside their own borders and even then, they had better be out of artillery range!
