Hey how's it going everyone?! Hope all is well for anyone who might be reading this! Okay so I have posted a few threads asking various questions about plants an gardening (seeing as how I only just started all the DIY stuff)but today's topics leans me more towards pressing an what might need to be done to change the viscosity with the end product. I've noticed that after pressing if you
Mess with the temperature for an extended period of time (higher *but never above 220 for decarb reasons* or lower) changes it somewhat depending on the product being used. Are there any other methods that anyone knows of to change the sappy rosin from a press to say crumble, shatter or some other consistency? Any help would be greatly appreciated thank you have a good day!

Decarb starts lower than 220F. I suggest keeping it below 125F if your goal is crumble or shatter.

What process are you using for extraction?

Oh wow! Thanks I didn't know any of that. Like I said I'm pretty new at all this and everything I've seen or read on the web says it's 220 f for up to an longer then 45 min. But I'm going to assume you have abit of experience in this department lol so I'll take your word for it! And I am pressing 8ths an quarters on a dulytek rosin press ( not exactly a nug smasher, but hey I love the thing! And for the price l couldn't find better.). Then after collection I put it in my food grade puck with the lid on it an place it back in my press with just enough pressure to make sure everything is touching. ( This is done at a temp of 165 f an then slowly an gradually that temp falls to room temp at around 45 min to an hr. *Maybe taking the puck out of the press an stirring it once about halfway through the slow heat process*). Then I take the puck an place it in the freezer for 5 to 10 min to cool it an it gives me that viscosity which is lick a thick icing or badder. But I haven't figured out how to make the shatter or crumble like how the dispensary has.. would love to figure it out though lol!

Shit forgot to mention said press is cut off on the slow cool down from 165f. Lol forgot that lil tidbit of information.

Don’t take my word on decarboxylation. Look at the chart.

Both shatter and crumble require that the material stay in the carboxylic acid state. The shatter for the stiffness and the crumble for the THCa crystals for the grains to for around.

The dispensary didn’t make the shatter or crumble starting out with Rosin. It was most likely extracted using a hydrocarbon.

I’m sorry to say that I’ve winterized and dabbed rosin, but never tried to make shatter or crumble out of it. I would probably start with winterizing it to remove the fats and waxes, and then removing the ethanol in a vacuum oven/chamber at 125F and -29.5" Hg. That should get you to at least pull and snap.

Have any of the rest of ya'll turned Rosin into shatter or crumble?
