Viparspectra P600 - Personal Recommendations for Dimmer and Height Settings?

Hello Guys & Gals! :D

I've just bought a P600 and I already germinated some seeds with the light 12 inch above the seedlings and running on 20%!

The manufacturer's guide says 20-24 inch above the plant and on 60%, but i also read about people using it on 100% straight from the start with different heights.
So I'm looking for some recommendations from growers with the same light, who already perfected these settings for best efficiency!

I would suggest the purchase of a lux meter, you can buy them for about $10 and they work brilliantly with white light. This way you can give the plants the light you want and all you then need to do is keep the light far enough away. With the lux meter for example you might want say 10,000 lux for the seedlings. Around 20,000 to 30,000 for growing and up to 60,000 for flowering.

Yeah, measuring your light at the canopy, and, ideally, computing your DLI is the way to go. Converts all those adjustments (height, dimming) into a go, no-go number of how much light they get per day period. I use the Photone app. It says I have around 380-400 (uMol/s*m^2) at the canopy, and i run the light 18 hours, so my DLI is around 26 (mols).

400 umols * 18 hours/day * 60 minutes/hour *60 sec/minutes = 25.9 mol DLI

This is where the experts say I should be for 3 week old just-now-vegging small plants barely out of their seedling solo cups. When I switch to 12/12 flower, I will crank the light so I have a DLI of 35-40 at 12 hours. Its a little math, but they make charts if a calculator scares you.

I downloaded the app, and this is the reading that I got 16 inches and at around 22-25% brightness. Should I stick with this for now?

That's fine for seedlings for the first 2 weeks or so. You can increase it a bit once the plants have several sets of true leaves and have developed a decent root system.

Thanks for the advice! I'm going to stick with Lux measuring from now on!
