@420God ran across many of them in his travelsNot too many bald eagles visit the Sandhill, but yesterday when I was on my way to town, there was one in the graveyard parking area. Majestically eating the deer remains someone had dumped there. I was going too fast to get a picture. He flew when I slowed down.
Eagles fly like they have somewhere to be, really deliberate and steady. We see one every once in awhile cruising through the neighborhood. Not too many bald eagles visit the Sandhill, but yesterday when I was on my way to town, there was one in the graveyard parking area. A couple three years back the wife and I were driving down to the riverhouse to walk, and there was a truck parked in the road. As we got close we noticed an adult and two young bald eagles a few rows into the soybean field eating a rabbit. We stopped too, and the adult picked up the rabbit and flew deeper into the field, the young ones following. That summer we saw them flying several times. Not sure where the nest was, but I'm sure it wasn't too far.@420God ran across many of them in his travels

I was out four-wheeling in the woods on my property today and I noticed a young Eagle sitting on the ground not too far from where I was riding so I drove closer to get a better look and saw it had an injured wing. After chasing it around and trying not to get ripped apart by it's huge talons...www.rollitup.org
This is more for deer and other horned mammals, but. . . .Ever seen a "Death Spiral"?
It's a mating ritual that more than one has succumbed to by not paying attention to altitude.

"Junior man checks all misfires"
We were talking about fuses tonight at supper. Bay County schools' annual art show made the local news, and there was a Johnny Depp drawing included in the exhibit. That led us to discussing Edward Teach's practice of weaving fuses into his beard, and lighting them up during nighttime maneuvers. The aspect of the story I always enjoyed was the philosophy behind it. It was to show folks he was so crazy it was better to not fight back."Junior man checks all misfires"
"Safety fuse, Isn't"
"Shortest distance between point of detonation and safety bunker is thru the guy in front of you"
"Timed fuse burns faster when you can't find cover"
"Fragments always fly 10 meters further than the safety limits say they will"
"If the lead tech is running, best keep up"
"Ticking is always worse when it stop......"

Yea, Spotswood had him killed, even though he really didn't have any power in NC. Each colony was it's own country, and Teach had a pardon from Eden, the NC governor. But Virginia in general and Spotswood in particular, always threw their weight around. The unlawful killing, and him being the king's man and having to veto some tobacco inspection and export laws the rich farmers had passed caused them to sour on him. It took four more years, but he was removed from office. His tricks ran out in Bath NC though.
