First time grower here and still learning. I have a 3'x3' grow tent indoors (in a closet). I have 5 plants in 5 gallon drums and I am growing bag seed cause I wanted to hone my skills before spending anymore money having dropped a couple hundred on the tent and light, dirt, pots, fertilizer, etc. A quick rundown of my set up is as follows:
Light is LED 1000W Gixxer full spectrum at 30 inches from canopy tops
I am using a mix of organic potting soil mixed with miracle grow potting soil ( I know I will catch hell on this one but working great so far ).
I have a 3'x3' grow tent
5 gallon grow bags
My temp usually stays around 75 - 78 degrees F
Humidity stays around 65%
I use Dr. Earth organic Pump and Grow fertilizer for tomatoes and herbs, I mix with filtered water and feed once weekly
I have Dr. Earth organic flowering Bud and Bloom fertilizer to use when I start to flower
I have my garden on a 16 hour lights one, 6 hours lights off cycle.
I also have a 4" inline fan with a carbon filter that I use along with a small regular fan to circulate the air since I am growing in a closet not much bigger than my grow tent.
Okay, I am in week 7, plants are about 9 inches tall and I will post pics if someone would like but my questions is this....? I am using bag seed and I don't know which one are males or which ones are females. I know the strain I am growing is Indica dominant but being bag seed I have no idea. I was told by the guy that gave me the seeds that they came from someone's personal garden and that it isn't from random weed. In Texas most all weed comes from Mexico and it is outdoor grown. I know in Mexico they grow mostly Sativa but my research may be wrong on this. I have been reading exhaustively and with drawings and pictures to know what to look for (I think) but for the life of me can't tell my males from females. The plants look really healthy and I just fimmed them two days ago to make more tops. I am really happy with the way they look but really want to cull the males out before I start flowering. But maybe that is my mistake... Do I need to start flowering before I can tell who is who in my garden??? I recognize I am a complete newb to this but if anyone has some advice, I would really appreciate it. I smoke bud for major health reasons and it just seemed easier for me to grow my own then to always to searching for it so I have gone to great lengths in trying to make this successful to justify the cost in my head.... That and I just love to garden... Thanks in advance for anyone's help and/or advice.
