Venting and Grow Room efficiency ( get your Ducts in a row)

hi, ok im changing shades from normal 600watters to air cooled tubes. i have a 5 inch rvk extractor which is vented up into the atic space. with both 600 hps on without air cooled shades and my rvk 5 inch and carbon filter running my temps are at hi end of 70's. 78 to be persise. so im adding cool shades to hopfully lower the temps down. all 5inch with 5 inch ducting and a 5 inch hole into atic. my rvk extractor is in the grow space hi up at the moment. but i want to put it in the atic extracting thru both cool tube shades. that will make it about 4 meters of ducting from shades to extractor. will that have anoth pull onit at that disstance??? i want extract in the atic because of noise

and why shouldnt heat from 1 lamp be passed over another lamp?? see that alot with these air cooled tube shades. ive been told long as its a 5inch extractor for 2 600 watters and no more then its fine. and vertical grows they use multiple lamps in 1 tube
 
Good info... I'm setting up an attic grow right now and am going to be running a 400 watt ventable hood to begin with.

What I'm not understanding about most threads on venting with hoods is the removal of odor from the room. How is this being done seeing that fresh air is being ducted in and only running through the hoods, to a fan, through a filter and out the roof. I see how effectively this controls heat.. but not odor (assuming the lights being used are sealed with glass).

My idea is to run a fresh air vent into the bottom of my sealed area. Then have one end left open on my hood with the other end ducted to a fan that exhausts through a scrubber to the roof vent. I'm thinking this will take care of both the heat and odor.

Any thoughts on this idea?
 
Has neone set up an intake to a filter in there room to block spores in such to provide fresh air with there co2? my humidity is low and im adding some uvb supplement so i need to lower my temps 5 degrees
 
Sub, I love this thread. Your ventilation system look lungs ready to breath. I am building my new garden and have been gathering some hard ducting, I will certainly come here with my questions. Awesome!! When i figure out how to +rep you will get it lol.
 


Greetings & Love in the name of the Most High. Thank you for all your knowledge. If i may I would like to pick your brain a lil bit for some advice on ventilation as I wanna do this right the first time around. I have two closets that are side by side and both are 66"L x 26"w x93"h and are divided by no more than a foot of wall between them. I will be pulling air from the right closet as its the one closet to the outside. I currently have the right as my veg and want to setup the left as my flowering chamber with my digital 600w air cooled 6" but was thinking of not using the glass to get a lil more light output- what do you think? So here are the things im stumped on: - I cut a 8" hole in the wall leading outside and put a booster fan thats then connected to an elbow and ducted straight up thats then elbowed and then shot accross into the other closet? Then how do I get the fresh air blown parallel to my canopy? Do i use a y duct after the booster and leave one end open and the other ducted up into the other room? And if so then how would i get the fresh air down to the canopy in the flowering chamber? Also how do I filter the air and bugs coming thru from the outside - do they make lil filters that you can just sleeve on to the booster fan? Also please keep in mind noise and smell are both an issue for me as I want this to be pretty stealthy as the left closet is right on the other side of the main hallway of the house. I am on a budget but at the same time am not willing to cut corners as I know cheap things end up costing you twice as much in the longrun. I can run the carbon filter up thru the attic as you do on yours but would prefer not to have to go up there if I dont nescessarilly have to as no ones been up there in years. If you could please point me in the right direction as how to set this up down to the last the very last detail and what type and size of fans I'll need it would be GREATLY APPRECIATED. Hey there great info! From what I've read I'm goning to try and apply it to my situatiuon. Maybe you could help or advise? I have an old dryer exhaust in the basement that I want to convert to a fresh air intake. I think its only 6', my question is if i get a large enough centrigufal fan to suck air inside from outside could I split the intake in to a cooltube 1000W Hps and the other spit use as fresh air for the room or would that cause no vacum pressure and just screw up with cooling the light?

any advice would be a huge thanks!!!
 
do you think i could attach some 4" ducting to a batwing reflector? and a 4" inline fan to that my room is only 38" widex42"deep and 43" tall. i will only be using about 2-3' of ducting to an 80cfm 4" inline fan for exhaust. i will be using a couple fans blowing on the lights for intake. i dont have an aircooled hood, which is why i want to know if i can attach ducting to an "econowing" batwing reflector. i havent turned on the setup yet so i am hoping my temps dont exceed 80 degrees F.

i want to attach a 4" inline fan for exhaust to the plywood right by where the door handle is on the right side. intake would be an 8" upside down fan on the left side, blowing on the lights. the room is not "sealed", there is about 4" from the door to the plywood, and about 2" from the plywood to the door frame. i wanted to fit the 4" inline fan inbetween the right door frame by the door handle. like i said the room is not sealed and there is no Co2
 
btw i would blow the hot exhaust air from the lights to the top half of the closet. and pull cool air right onto the lights on the left side of the room, near the closest edge of plywood. right by the door hinges.
 
Wow nice thread it has got excited to redo my whole vent setup.
How does that system vent the room automatic baffles or is it a seperate setup.
 
Sub, what if i'm only venting 1 room thats 10 ft long 8 ft wide 12 ft tall? how would i easily and cheap as possible vent my room?
 
im re doing my whole setup for vent i have a 8in 500cfm duct fan witch sucks air through the filter that runs through the cool tube an im shootin it up an out the room. my intake is in the other side at the bottom its a lil over 4 1/2 inch intake.
 
Do vent your room directly into your attic? If so, how do you prevent mold build up in the attic space from the moisture leaving your room?

The attic is ventilated but thats only a small problem ny system is pulling outside air through the hoods and expelling it so its not picking up loads of moisture on the way passing through.
 
Hey subcool, this is a great thread with some awesome info. I got a question for you though. I plan on using CFL's inside a cabinet around 78"H x 48"W x 24"D. I will have a 4" Vortex Inline Fan run to a small section of 4 inch piping that will be connected to the Can Carbon Filter. This set up will exhaust straight through the carbon filter into the room. I will also have a type of Hepa filter/air cleaner inside the cab. So, my question is... How or what will I use to bring clean air into the cab and how would I set it up?
